Warning: this thread will come off as gay. So yeah.
I just wanted to give thanks to XM, Opie & Anthony, and Ron & Fez for all the years of great radio from the studio that will be gone on Friday. To a lot of people who haven't gone there, they won't know what I mean. But the people that visited, they'll understand.
The XM studios were a place for all of us to meet up and hang out. It was sort of a tradition as to how we'd start our get togethers. "Alright lets meet up at O&A, watch it, then head out to the bar afterwards and come back for R&F".
Remember the early XM days when there was just office furniture and they couldn't have more than 5 people watching the show from that horrible pink and beige couch? Then they moved the office equipment and brought in those black cushions that were uncomfortable. We'd just have to stand around while a few lucky people sat in chairs on the couch. Fun times.
(Despite how people feel about it on the radio) Paltalk was brought in to bring fans even closer to the studio with the live cameras. Eventually there was crowd interactions, the audience mic, 'confessions from the audience'.
The new studio made it even more accessible for the fans. We'll always have our fond memories of the silver bleachers with the black taped XM logo on it, being squashed together, looking up at the flat screens, sometimes having the bleachers brought into studio.
Even though security procedures were always tight, Po was a great guy who did his job as quickly as possible for the safety and precautions of the shows.
The XM studios have a lot of fond memories and a ton of great times. I'll honestly miss going to the studio just on an off day and checking it out. Or having our monthly get togethers start there and have a ball. XM and the shows provided us with a comfortable environment that we as fans were truly grateful to have.
So just quick thanks for the memories of our favorite radio shows from 111 W 57th str. Hopefully this new studio treats you guys even better and we're allowed to visit sometime.

I know it's gay and all but seriously, fans were provided with a great studio to hang out at. Hopefully the new one gives us something, but for now I'll miss the old one a ton.

how about people just go back to listening to a radio show on their radios? do you need to see a radio show? no. just be a listener.

Dude, seriously? A copy and paste on Ronfez and Wackbag? And whatever lesser boards you post on too?
How about a couple short lines on each board?
And yea, you're not losing a family member here, you still get to listen to O&A on the radio.

You are a wise man.
Most people don't see the studio as a regular hang-out.

Moe, as part of the new studio, we've had to take away your sister. I'm sorry.

yes it was but i am not sad to see them leave there. it really shouldnt matter where they do the show from for a listener as long as we can hear the show.

Rough guess once every 2 months.
I never said this was a very straight thread or that we're losing a family member. Regardless of how it's viewed, it was a hang out spot for some people. It was a ton of fun and I'm a bit sad that the opportunity to randomly check it out on a Friday is gone. I'm sure this will be taken out of context entirely.

Completely agreed. If they were on the moon and still did a show I'd listen. I was just grateful that I even could check it out.

I understand your feeling of nostalgia Flea.
But as a listener(Not a viewer, paltalker, visitor, hanger on) I am psyched to hopefully hear 202 shows get back to a Host/Listener dynamic. Not so much an ingroup-outgroup mentality that's permeated the channel and really served to distract the hosts from their radio shows.

Get a grip. It's not fuckin' Yankee Stadium.
It's a rodent infested suite of rooms that housed sociopaths and chronic masturbators.

Hell the show could go back to DC and it wouldn't effect the listeners at all.

MUCH bigger than the space R&F had at WJFK, and comparable to the studios The Junkies currently do their show out of - and they have a cast of at least 4 and manage to get guests in too.
It may suck for the fan/visitor, but O&A and R&F have been in the business long enough to know that what they had at XM wasn't going to last forever - they know things change on a dime - and I'm sure they enjoyed every second of that and didn't take it for granted. Change is the only thing that you can count on.

Whats wrong with you Stugots?!? Its not jus about being on the radio, its about "The whole Experience" mannnnnn.

They are gonna have fans sit in a window cleaning box to check out the show.
Wait, you can listen to a radio show on the radio?
Yeah, we used to do it all the time back in the day. Can you imagine, there was a time when radio ment listening and Television was visual.....now the lines of reality are blurred like a Twilight Zone episode.
the only thing I'm gonna miss after the move to the new studios is the days when O&A didn't complain about how small the new studio is.
