And here we go.

No HD for me because Comcast blows. This may be the last straw before I go to DirecTV.

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:01 PM
I'm surprised that HBK/Taker wasn't a casket match.

Show opens with a nice video package about WM.

Kevin

No way i am paying 54 bucks for something i can watch the next day.. For shall we say, a little less than that..

Yea, i watch a Raw in like 20 minutes...

Some Santiono, Jericho, Orton. And maybe the Main Event.

Tenbatsuzen

Money in the Bank match is first up. Here comes Punk.

...and then Maria wipes it off her face.

Christian is in the WWE? When did this happen?

Kevin
04-05-2009, 03:13 PM
Christian is in the WWE? When did this happen?

About a month or so. He has been on Raw a few times.

He is on WWECW

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:17 PM
About a month or so. He has been on Raw a few times.

He is on WWECW

taws a joke.

Kane and Henry team up and knock all the smaller men off the ladders in a cool spot.

Kane just LAUNCHES the laders out of the ring.

Kane goes up. Henry goes up.

Kane goes down.

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:17 PM
BTW, they introduced Hugo Savinovich early, which means that someone's dying on the Spanish announce.

Christian with a cool running plancha. No holy shit spots yet.

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:19 PM
Ebony & Ivory plancha onto everyone from Punk and Kofi.

and Shelton has the holy shit moment, with a head-first planca from the tallest ladder to the floor.

HENRY GOES UP TOP... and finlay saves us all from that.

Hornwoggle with a stepladder for the Lolz.

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:21 PM
Kofi, meet stepladder. OUCH.

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:23 PM
OWWWW. Nice sequence.

Henry starts setting up a *closed* ladder. Kof climbs up the closed ladder, touches the belt, then Henry throws down the ladder, catches Kofi on the way down, then spine busts him on the ladder.

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:24 PM
Unprettier off the ladder. Ow.

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:26 PM
It's hard to describe, but there's an erector set in the ring. One ladder set up, another ladder set up across the steps of the ladder and the top rope, and then another ladder going from floor to the top rope ladder.

Also, all the refs are wearing rubber gloves. Is this new?

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:28 PM
Punk wins MITB.

"BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!"

Bob Impact
04-05-2009, 03:29 PM
Punk AGAIN? I dont get the deal with this guy.

Edit: I know I predicted him again, but I still don't get it with him.

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:32 PM
And now Kid Rock with a musical number.

Bob Impact
04-05-2009, 03:32 PM
are WWE events the only thing that Kid Rock plays now? Good work opening with Bawitdabaw.

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:34 PM
Kid Rock is doing Bawithdaba, which would have been AWESOME... at WM15. Is it that hard to his latest single?

Bob Impact
04-05-2009, 03:34 PM
OH WOW, the pregnant pause where the crowd did NOTHING while he was trying to get them to yell "Get in the pit and love someone" was priceless.

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:35 PM
Wait, he's doing a medley. Will probably end it with that Skynyrd/Zevon song.

Glad to see WWE is consistent in their hatred of tag team wrestling, but we did get a concert thats outdated by 10 years.

Crowd is chanting "Santino!" and they kill the mics.

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:46 PM
I'm trying to figure out how the hell Santino's wig is staying on.

Tenbatsuzen
04-05-2009, 03:50 PM
"she" introduces herself as Santina Marella, Santino's twin sister from Italy, and she's crying in the ring.

I guess that's why they didn't do intros when all the divas came in.

Beth Phoenix is pissed.

I was almost right in most of my predictions.
WWE CHAMPIONSHIP
Triple HHH (Champion) versus Randy Orton
Right.

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
John Cena vs Big Show vs Edge (Champion)
Right about Cena, wrong about the Edge face turn.

MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH
Kane vs Mark Henry vs CM Punk vs Christian vs Shelton Benjamin vs MVP vs Finlay vs Kofi Kingston
Right.

ICON VS ICON
16-0 at Wrestlemania, The Undertaker vs Mr. Wrestlemania HBK
Right.

BROTHER VS BROTHER
Jeff Hardy vs Matt Hardy
Push because I dont care.

25 CURRENT AND PAST DIVA'S IN A BATTLE ROYAL FOR TITLE OF MS. WRESTLEMANIA!
Wrong but Santina makes it OK.

NEWLY CROWNED INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION JBL PROMISES TO "CHANGE THE FACE OF THE WRESTLING WORLD
Apparently I was wrong, but hopefully I get to see JBL commentating where I like him and not wrestling where his old man tits creep me out.

JERICHO VS. LEGENDS

Right on every count. Especially pants.

It all looked disappointing to me, except for the Taker/Michaels match. I think if they went with Orton winning and Edge retaining the title matches would have been better and they should have put the Taker/Michaels match as the main event. I know that title matches should be important, but that match is everything Wrestlemania is about and would have ended the show on a very high note instead of another HHH/Cena title win.

I think the highlights for me was Taker/HBK showing that the elder statesmen of the WWE can still go, and when they do go, it's amazing. And Steamboat. Steamboat looked great, got a big pop, and worked well.

Everything else was just blah. This really didn't have anything special. It did not "feel" like Wrestlemania at all. There was nothing special, no "Wrestlemania Moment" outside of the Taker/HBK match.

"This is the last time we'll see Austin in a WWE ring." Is it? I'll believe that when I see it. With the send off Ric Flair got last year, he's back in the ring a year later.

Outsider of Taker/HBK and Steamboat, it basically boils down to:

1) Shelton Benjamin's dive off the ladder

2) Hardy Table Sandwich (which was a convoluted spot anyway) and Pillmanizer Twist of Fate

3) Mysterio's outfit

4) Army of Cenas (which was pretty cool, IMHO, even though I didn't watch the triple threat match)

I think if anything is an example of the recession, this barebones Wrestlemania is it.

Taker/HBK was worth half of the price of admission, that match was epic.

I'm inclined to agree. If MITB or HHH/Orton was better, it would have been worth it. I don't understand why one of the slowest workers (Kane) and one of the worst workers (Henry) was in that match.

They gotta have SOMEBODY to job out.

I said it last night, Mark Henry is totally Type-2 Diabetes just WAITING to happen. Between that and the arthritic way he moved, the man should really do more of an APA thing than get up in the ring.

Also, is it bad that I am a total mark for gimmick matches? I loved the double-stacked table-bomb during the Hardy Boyz match, which made me REALLY miss the fuckin' Dudleys. I love ladder matches and always love steel-cage matches ... could've done with a barbed-wire match, for one of these, though.

And I HATED the fucking Santino-in-drag bit for the 25-Diva match. Damn rotten spot. It could only have been worse had they put stroked-out Mae Young in there with the ladies and had her toss Santina out.

Uhm, OK. I hate Cena's entrances.

I liked it better the first time I saw it in 2000.

I'm kinda disappointed with WrestleMania.

The divas battle royal was useless, why even bring back old divas if you're not going to at least announce they are in the ring. I had no idea Jackie Gayda was a brunette until I just saw a picture of her on .com. I like Santino a lot and I'm sure he'll run with the gimmick (haven't watched RAW yet), but it really shit on the women.

I'm done with Rey, the Joker mask would have been a good idea at Summerslam when the movie was hot. It made no sense at Mania. I was gonna fast forward through the match but they threw me a bone and ended it quickly. But for a title that hasn't been defended at Mania in seven years; they just made it look even weaker. But hey, at least that title made the PPV. I spit in the face of unification's that don't want to be shown.

Undertaker vs HBK was fucking great. HBK can work with anyone and make a classic and Taker showed some really solid emotions of disbelief. BEST MATCH BY FAR!

I don't like either Hardy as a singles wrestler, it's never worked for me. Their was a couple cool spots, but I wasn't interested in the feud at all.

Y2J vs the Legends was a waste of Jericho's talent. I don't have a problem with him getting knocked out if Mickey was a legit fighter but I was hoping Austin would end his WWE career by stunning Jericho since he was a new inductee to the legends.

MITB was pretty lame. Maybe the innovation is lost or maybe they had wrestlers that shouldn't have been in the match to begin with. Take Kane, Henry and Finlay and replace them with Matt, Jeff and Jericho and you'd have a classic.

Are we still supposed to be impressed with Cena FU'ing Big Show? He's done it on TV at least a couple dozen times now, having Edge on top for a split second was impressive, but overall a bad match.

Orton should have won plain and simple. He made this angle work, I've been a lot more impressed with him than Triple H.

1) Shelton Benjamin's dive off the ladder

Kofi Kingston probably saved his life. He caught Benjamin's neck at the very last second and kept him from landing on his head. I had to rerun it a couple of times to find the right replay to see how he didn't simply break his neck.
Kofi also probably saved MVP at least a concussion when Mark Henry and Tony Atlas didn't catch him right after Shelton threw MVP backwards from the ring.

The Undertaker almost broke his own neck, too. It was a Mania for near-death dives apparently.

I'll give Henry this: I don't think anyone else could have done that closed ladder spot with Kingston, and that was a great moment.

How about Shelton's "I dont give a shit about you" powerbomb he gave MVP, almost tossed him head first into the barricade. Maybe the rest of the guys were supposed to be there to catch him but it looked like a dick move to me.

Maybe he was mad that MVP screwed up the flip powerbomb off the ladder. MVP held on too long and it got screwed up.

Yep, that's the one I meant. Henry and Atlas caught him, but he was too high, so when they fell back to the floor his head was unprotected. Kingston was lying nearby and caught MVP's head.

Im watching it again right now, and I gotta say it looked like after that botched powerbomb MVP was throwing some real punches and Shelton just grabbed him and said fuck it as he threw him out of the ring. Thats how it looked anyway, Either way it was a helluva spot.
