I don't feel they do in the same way, no. I can read the sarcasm or tongue in cheek way people respond with Ronnie B's comments most of the time.

For the most part, people I've read putting Norton responses down on Wackbag weren't doing it as a joke, they were doing it as a way to try to one up you or end the discussion. I saw it a lot in the political forum when the threads broke down into name calling because someone dared to voice an opinion that didn't line up with Anthony's ideals.

That's why I hardly post there anymore.

I didn't hear it but Norton must understand that the reason this made the front page is that it is relevant to the current hot topic. Surely when Jim Crow laws were under fire, that sort of thing made the front page. The press is in the game for money - if the story will sell papers today, they print it. Black kills a white - not money making news.

On the whole I think he's the least racist member of the show. I do think he has a chip on his shoulder about the media and needs to be contrary about everything, though. I think it says a lot about them that they see this as a race issue. I'm being honest, until I saw this thread it had not occurred to me that it involved a white person and a minority, just that it involved an attack on someone because of their religion. This is where I think they stretch to scream out, "white guilt!".

EDIT: To be fair, I haven't heard the break you're talking about, but to lump "them" (muslim extremists that executed 9/11 attacks) in with the person attacked here is the essense of stupidity and xenophobia.

Ok, to be fair, it didn't barely make the papers. It was front page news for a few days. I do agree that it didn't get covered as it should though.

As much as you're saying the Mexicans being attacked by blacks not being news is an example of how lackluster coverage of non "white on ____" crimes the media is, couldn't it also be said that perhaps they do not cover "____ on Mexican" crimes? What is your basis for saying if the attackers were white it would have gotten any more media play?

Yesterday I kinda turned the corner on Norton being racist. I don't know if Ant is rubbing off on him or what but lately its comments coming from Jimmy without prompting from Ant.

Not 2 mins into the Death Wish 3 break and Norton chimed in with " Of course all the gang members are white."

I don't mind the occasional sterotype observation, hell they do it too Italians all the time on the show. It's just the casual dropping of racial comments that bother me. The bell has now become the laugh at black jokes bell.

White Guilt has nothing to do with the situation. Sure today the PC Police are everywhere, but I would think the producers of Death Wish 3 were more concerned, at that time, with just filling extras in the movie then worring about who was Black and who was White.

A lot of the time when Norton in interviewing someone on the show he brings up an interesting question or two which adds to the dicussion.

But

When he is an uberfan of something is just gets annoying. I listened to the interview with whoever from the wire this week and it was horrible. The guy is in there hanging out and trying to plug his newest project and has to endure the neverending parade of awful Norton babble. They act like this is some great part of the show too, Jimmy acting like a fool when certain people are in studio.

Also another reason why they don't get bigger guests. Amid the others that they don't seem to see.

I think he is 10x funnier on the show than his act. I do think his stand up is funny but something about him on the radio is so spontaneous, quick and fucking hilarious. I don't want to get crucified here but, i think it's his delivery that is lacking a kind of naturalness to me that other comics like patrice, louis ck and bill burr have. I don't know what it is but, i can't help feeling that way whenever i watch his specials. I still love that zilch though

However, he provided no link to this story, so I can't tell if this is an accurate portryal of the story or not. Were the teens predominantly black or not?

And here's the thing too: a news organization wouldn't print that if there's any doubt about the makeup of the gang It's called accuracy.

And here's his later defense of his anger at the story:

And I laugh at the comment of news organizations and accuracy. They quote blogs now. .

They all race to be first with whatever info they can get and will adjust the info as the story moves on. They probably look at it like what good is being accurate if your a day late and everyone got all their info from other sources already and are over the initial excitement of the story breaking when you get yours out? They won't be reading it or watching it.

To believe that when a group of white guys attack a black guy, race is much more obviously a motivating factor, than when a group of black guys attack a white guy, well, is the definition of liberal logic.
