Got a flat on Easter so I put the spare on (Donut) My question is how long can I drive on it. I drove to work this morning no problem but it is about a 50 mile trip each way. I did not go over 55 and the road had little or no hazards. I just want know will it be a problem driving home ?

a problem

you do not want to use the donut too much on a drive axle, as because of its smaller size it makes the differential always want to power to that side, and this can cause transmission problems, as well as it will wear the tire fast.
Is the old tire completely ruined? If you are on a budget, you could get a plug kit and plug a small to medium hole in the thread.

I'll be putting on the new one today. I was just a little nervous about the ride home

Chances are you made it. Before putting it back in the truck, read the side wall of the tire. I've seen some that say not to exceed 25mph or to only use for 'x' miles in an emergency.

like earthbrown said it will destroy your transmission. Not only the power part but the geometry will be off in the axles.
