No, not the kind prospective grooms get! I'm talking about in the literal sense. I can wear two pairs of heavy wool socks and insulated boots in the house, and yet my feet are always cold. I assume it has to do with poor circulation...but is there a cure? I have heard people say acupuncture actually works. Is that true, or pure malarkey? Inquiring minds (and my poor frozen tootsies) want to know!

I have the same problem, GvacNoMore. As far as circulation goes, it could be due to being tall, as the blood has a long distance to travel. Also, your extremities and limbs tend to be more susceptible to temperature changes, being located a longer distance from your heart.

I'm not much of a believer in acupuncture. Granted, I've never tried it, but I'm one of those skeptical people. I would say check with the old doctor....

Many factors contribute to this problem including age, alchohol use, drug (even prescription drugs such as antidepressants), and cardiovascular conditions.

Cold extremeties may also be a sign of Raynaud's Disease (not sure about the spelling.) So with this as well as any other problem with possible medical causes consult your doctor.

WILEE - Height isn't a factor. Many short people suffer from cold extremeties and often feel colder in general than taller and heavier people.

I have cold feet too. I never sleep without socks. But worse than that is my nose. I constantly have a cold nose. The heat could be on 85 and the rest of me will be warm but my nose will be ice cold...whats up with that??

Perish the thought! I likened the lovely Gina to a PUPPY: loveable, adorable, young, sweet, and innocent.

Besides, everytime I see her, she pees on the carpet!

HK- But you would agree that extremities (hands/feet/arms/legs) usually are colder because they are farther from the heart and rest of the body- on short and tall people alike.

My feet are always ice cold. What works best for me is to just stick them in Thunderlips' back while he's sleeping.

I seem to recall reading a physical anthropologist's article about the acclimation of human's to different environments. Eskimos and other people who lived in cold environments were discussed.

He argued that the blood in the extremities is closer to the skin than blood in other parts of the body. Blood temperature in the extremities is lower than in the rest of the body so they feel colder especially when compared to the rest of the body.

Hey GvacNoMore, why dont you cut your feet off and put it on the board for everyone to see. That will cure your problem.
