View Full Version : Am I a close talker?

I've been noticing something lately about my behavior that's been bothering me, and I don't know if this is the "norm" or not.
When I'm in a very loud bar, I have a tendency to "lean in" to listen and to talk to people. It's mainly for better understanding on my own part. I'm not trying to be creepy, it's just so I can understand the conversation. With my ADD, when I hear so many voices at once, it's hard for me to focus. It's not like I'm going deaf, it's just that I can't focus on the one person, and I also want them to hear what I want to say.
This led to something last night that was kind of weird and I don't know what happened. I was a little embarrassed.
Anyway, if you've dealt with me in the real world at a bar, am I creepy when I do this, or this normal behavior?
Reason #1 why I hate going to loud bars to hang out with people.

i always learn in at a loud bar, but i lean in towards the other persons ear. i do this purposely so i dont seem like an insane close talker.

twenty-six some-odd years of using and working in headphones everyday have left me quite hearing impaired, and I have to lean in in even moderately loud situations just to hear another person. I always explain to the person I'm talking to that I am hard of hearing and I always smell nice so I'm never really concerned about the situation.

Just a moment of awkwardness that happened at Missy's deal last night. It might be just something that I'm blowing up in my head because of what happened, so I'm not going to go into detail over it.

Ive noticed girls dont know how to talk in bars. You need to speak from the diaphragm to be heard. *but who really listens anyway?* AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! its a sexist joke.

When I met you that time in the bar, I did not notice your manner as being abnormal. Some people get creeped by close proximity though, regardless of the logic of the situation. I think that's why bar fights happen.
