Is there a way to be a fan and express critique of a show here?
Should it be done here?

we should be able to, but people get out of control with their feelings here (i include myself in this). everyone here gets caught up in other's post counts and popularity when posting in threads that give critique - all opinions should matter.
i do have a problem when people strike down the show with pure negative comments, thinking that they are giving constructive criticisms. there is a difference, and people are blurring the line between the two.

well i don't know about right or wrong; should or shouldn't....
i do know that i have at various times been part of 'fandom' for different shows (nypd blue, babylon 5, six feet under, st next generation, to give some well-known examples), and the most detailed and critical (and sometimes, insightful) comments always came from the biggest fans.

As long as you don't hate the show you should be fine.
Oh, but you can't love the show either.
As long as you are somewhere in between the extremes I think its all good

Yes to both.
It is a "fan site" created by "fans". I feel critique that has been accepted here, but as with every other site your gonna have people who tow the "Bennington Line" and flame you for saying something. Those people are generally people who have (or imagine they have) a personnal connection to the show. They are no longer the average listener and their opinions just parrot those of the hosts or C rate celebrites who see some forums on here that they don't agree with.
I would say this board has a good amount of positive and negative about the show. More Positive then negative dispite what the hosts sometime bitch about. Its hardly a hater site, and its more open minded then most others. It why I'm a Ronfez.net exclusive! Thats right, my douchebaggery doesn't extend past these boarders folks!

I don't like the whole better in the old days shit. Ron has said before that the show changes, and if you're changing with it cool and if you're not maybe go find somthing else. I wasn't a big fan of the live reads but I think they're funny now because I appreciate them trying to make somthing funny out of it. I wasn't a big fan of the 30 min. segments, and I'm glad they're not sticking to them so religiously. Some shit works, some doesn't but for the most part I feel like they're still doing a show for the fans and not just going through the motions.
I kind of respected Opie for calling out Ant in that argument they had a while back. That show was mailing it in forever when they were on FM.

And I say that hosts use that excuse as a cop-out so they don't have to admit the producing has gotten lazy and the Hosts are just phoning it in.
They R&F shows brief return to FM radio was eye opening. I loved those shows. I think with Sat Radio there isn't a need to step up and "produce" some grand show. Just showing up and phoning it in is fine because you don't have to please sponsors or generate ratings.
Thats the feeling I get as an almost 10 year listener. And I'm saying in general not just R&F.

Fair enough. What's your thoughts on Ron's take with friends? His was basically saying that if you and a friend grow apart, it doesn't mean either of you are assholes, just that for whatever reason things changed.
I'm not trashing your opinion, I just view the situation as people or show's changing. Kind of like growing out of certain types of music or TV shows.

Again, can't it just be spin on Ronnie's part to get you to think anyone who says the show has changed for better or worst is just growing apart from the show?
Does the fans opinion mean nothing?

You wanna know why the Free FM shows were so good?
THEY WERE ON AT NIGHT! a completely different vibe and a different audience.

given the merging of sirius and xm, i am like the rest of you waiting for "more shoes to drop" and i think one is a combination 'hot talk' channel with stern, o & a, r & f, and b t l s. posts speculating about that were on orbit cast two years ago, at least. so, i think the nighttime r & f could be in the cards.

No.
As much as people who "love" the show but talk nothing but shit about it want to think they're "deeper" or "more of a fan" for hating. Their opinions are as tired as any rah-rah "Ron and Fez rulz!" poster out there. Is Fez not preforming like he used to? Is Ron a bully? Does East Side Dave get too much/not enough airtime? Yeah its all been said.. and heard OVER AND OVER.

yet posts along those lines (to paint with a broad brush) are some of the most viewed and commented on.

Since I enjoy 3 out of 4 of those shows that would be a dream channel for me, but that wouldn't leave a lot of room for replays or other specialty shows. I think we may see a new hot talk channel like that in the future. I think Sirius 108, "Sirius XM Stars Too" is in need of a new brand and some new talent.
But right now they won't do it considering they're still trying to squeeze more money out of subscribers by requiring subs to get the Best Of packages to get both the Virus/Howard channels.
