I remember what a shock it was when Tyson lost. I was in college and we came back from drinking and saw the ESPN breaking news that he lost and we thought it was a hoax.
Iwas too. The NBA Slam Dunk and 3 point was going. 1st Tyson fight we skipped in years! Ha

If you are a major political candidate in this nation and you don't know what the fucking Bush Doctrine is....you aren't a serious person.
Exactly. And then don't whine when someone calls you out on it.
She was unqualified and knew it, but to cloud the issue, she tried to pin the blame on the media for having an agenda. It's not that she's unqualified, it's that the media is trying to make her look unqalified.
That is the craziest shit I've ever heard.
That's what I keep reading. Doesn't mean it'll happen...but that's the current situation.

Looking at the list of democrats they are putting up there has me thinking another moderate republican will with.
The fact that Gavin thinks he has a chance in that state is beyond hilarious.

People need to get off this "the media is trying to X" shit.
If you are a "new" face, its their role to go after you to test you. Clinton passed the test. Bush Jr. passed the test. Obama passed the test. Palin failed.
Get over it.

What if Robert Downey Jr. just wanted to have some freaking fun? Iron Man was a fun movie and he said he had a lot of fun making it.
Sorry if it doesn't hold up to Mr. Bennington's "Way Too Hip For The Room" movie sensibilities.

Wouldn't the definition of "selling out" be that an artist was "good" then bastardized their work to achieve greater commercial success?
This "good" part would really disqualify KISS.

But she was unqualified. And reporters should be asking questions of candidates as to why they think they are qualified.
If you're interviewng for a job and you have an obvious weakness, the interviewer can't ask about that weakness? She was running for VP and, ideally, our media should be there to ask such questions of both sides.
Or should candidates not be asked about their weaknesses?
She shouldn't have been improvving (if she was). It was something that she should have expected to be asked, and she should have planned for it.
Please do not belittle my opinion by stating an obviously moronic point as if I could be representing it (disqualification in high school debate clubs mr attorney)
I do think the media should ask BOTH sides about their weaknesses. I do NOT think the media did or has asked both sides about their weaknesses. I think personal agendas have gotten in the way of fair discussion and debate.
One time the National Guard isn't patriotic enough to be VP according to our media and the next time the Commander in Chief has no military experience. We elect a governor as President one time and then being a governor means you are not qualified to be VP. What is the purpose of the question... that's all I was commenting on

Regardless as to whether the question was driven by an agenda or not, it was a legitmate question that has often been asked of all candidates running for national office. Plus, I believe that even prior to the interview she was touting her "foreign experience." If she touts its it, she should be asked, And even if she didn't tout it, she should be asked what every other candidate is asked. Her answer should have been what I suggested and maybe a little of what you are saying.
Also, the reason she was not qualified to be VP wasn't simply because she was a governor. The reason she wasn't qualified was that at that time, she had been governor for all of 18 months. And with all due respect to Alaska, it's a small state in terms of population and issues. And before those 18 months, she was mayor of a small town. Plus she had no previous experience with her party nationally. It was a host of being unqualified on many levels.
If she wants to complain that the media wasn't asking the same questions of Obama, fine, but she shouldn't have complained that she was being asked those questions.

The guy seems a little bitter in that interview
He admitted that Pick Up Artist wasn't one of the best things.
And I didn't see what he was saying about Downey as bitching. I think he was lamenting that Downey is loaded with talent, and that his current career track isn't tapping into that talent. I believe he said that it was a legitimate choice to make, but that he wishes that Downey was doing what he's best at.

Which she should have done since the guy who was running for President had only served 3 years in the U.S. Senate.
Let's just face facts that we'll probably never again have Presidents with the pedigrees of our first 10 Presidents since the dullard populace doesn't want "Washington insiders" and instead prefers "change" and "mavericks".

Tell me one question the media did ask one side and not the other in the last election. Complaining about generalities is useless.
As for your two examples they are simple:
Bush presented his National Guard experience as an equilavent to serving during Vietnam went it wasn't AND he was found to be AWOL.
As for the governor thing.....obviously not all governorships are equal. Especially governors of minor states that try to overplay their experience.

I'll say it before and I'll say it again. Every presidential candidate who won in the last 25 years or so, except Bush Sr., has run on a ticket of change or not being a Washington insider. And the electorate buys it every time.
And except for Bush Sr. and Obama, every president since Carter has been a state governor before becoming President.

I thought the question we were discussing was an example and not a generality (actual instance and not abstract).
I thought Dan Quayle was criticized for being in the National Guard when running as a VP candidate (mute point by the time W came around).
From a business perspective, Arkansas was arguably the worst run state at the time of the campaign.
Still don't think the question was asked "to be fair to both sides" (we all knew the answer) and the answer she gave was extremely stupid. AND... I did not vote for Palin (I just said I think she is HOT)

I'm still puzzled by your objection to the question. Again, her level of national and foriegn experience is an important thing to note for her qualifications. Is it the most important thing for a VP? No, but it is important.
I think most people knew the answer (although I saw too many people repeating her answer and saying she did have such qualifications), but that still doesn't mean she shouldn't have been asked the question. And the way she was asked the question is just as important as the substance.
Back to her hotness, if someone's personality annoys me enough, I don't care how physically hot they are, I lose interest. Jenny McCarthy is an example. Before I ever heard her, etc., I thought she was incredible and I remember "appreciating" her centerfold.
But after hearing her for two minutes, I lost all interest and she wasn't hot to me anymore. And I didn't appreciate her pictures after that.

I just found the emphasis on the stupid answer prevented open discussion on whether it really is a prerequisite to being a good VP (as assumed by many because it was asked). The media stops asking questions about qualifications when it matches their agenda. After electing a president with no military experience, they no longer ask about qualifications to lead the military (except if they are of the other party - W).
We had a two-term President that didn't have prior foreign-relations experience. This is again a non-issue when it comes to questioning the party of choice, but a big issue when asked of the other candidate (or their running mate). I did not notice an fair emphasis on this issue applied to the other party. It didn't sway the way I voted, but I just didn't think it was fair.
I find both Jenny M and Sarah P attractive (despite their annoying ways).

I think that was less of an agenda issue and more that it was less of an issue with the America populace. You have to remember that Clinton was the first presidential candidate who could have served in Vietnam. Given that Bush was in the military, and Clinton seemed to avoid service, Clinton's lack of military experience was thought to be a weakness and he got pounced on for it. The fact that he was elected suggested that the American people didn't find it important and it became les of an issue.
We had a two-term President that didn't have prior foreign-relations experience. He didn't, but when he ran, he was asked the question re: qualifications and experience, especially since Gore did have such experience.
Also, you have to remember that McCain's camp (and well as Clinton's) put such a huge emphasis on Obama's lack of experience and qualifications, but then selected Palin to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. By making Obama's qualifications such a big deal (and it's something they should have done), they opened themselves up to attack by choosing a VP candidate with less qualfications and experience than Obama. That there is the primary reason her qualifications were such a big deal. If the Democrats had done the same thing, the media would have been over them as well.
I find both Jenny M and Sarah P attractive (despite their annoying ways).
Well then you're sick.
