This is where I am most weekends.
In the country (Machias, NY).
I love it here. It's somewhere I can just go to get away from it all or to get my thoughts right.
Here's a picture:

This took a few minutes to make happen because out here I only have 56k dial-up.
Where do you go to get away from it all?

Let's see some ground level close ups.
Our get away is a campground and lake just 7 miles away. I have livestock to tend to twice a day, but its not being home. A long weekend a couple times a year is a real vacation.

<font color="deeppink">when i get AWAY i go places alone....ive been known to pack up and go to NYC or DC....i like driving it gives me time to think without distraction of computer and stuff....i sleep in the back of my jeep liberty and i normally bring my bicycle with me (my bike likes to cuddle)
i should also mention how awesome my mountain bike is, its custom built with a super lightweight Marin frame....i can load it in my jeep using my pinkie finger alone

Get away? One can do that? Perhaps that is my problem. I cannot remember the last time I went anywhere.

If I'm just getting out for a weekend I usually go camping at Ft. DeSoto, go surfing on the East coast of FL or on a long weekend go to my family's vacation house in Waynesville NC.
I don't have to go far at all.

To get away from the house - camp ground
To get away from husband/children - the bathroom - it has a lock and no one bugs me there. I keep it stocked with magazines and books
To get away from in-laws - A Very Large City - cause I know they hate big cities

I just need to get in the car alone and drive with the music turned up really loud.
With no particular place to go.

Oh man, thats just blocks from the fam. Spring Lake is like heaven. Srsly.
When I could get away from it all.....
on sundays I would "flea market" Stormville, Ny.... New Milford, CT.
and whatever was in those towns is where I would spend my day.
If I had time and money I would be in Lake Winnipesauskee, NH staying at our friends inn http://www.bayside-inn.com/pdf/brochure.pdf laying on the dock or out on a boat.

(I have been playing on that patch of grass there since I was born)
But, when I was in NC I would drive over to Lake Lure.

Today I'm going to South Beach on Staten Island, you know, just to Über tan.
In 2006, I really got away by going on a cross country road trip. I hit Miami Beach, FL., New Orleans, LA., Dallas, TX., Boulder, Co., The Grand Canyon, UT., The Las Vegas strip, NV., The Death Valley desert, NV. San Diego, CA., Tijuana, Mexico. San Francisco, CA., and back.
I stayed in hotels, motels, sometimes in my car. I acted the tourist. It was the best. I want to do it again. 13,000 miles.

Elephants Trunk Flea Market is still on Federal Rd, althought Federal Road is way different now a days. I dont know how it still hangs on but it does.

Anything scenic where i can just walk aimlessly.
Usually Hartshorne park, when you get to the top of one of the hills you can see out over Sandy Hook and all the inlets, it's really nice.
