Yes Iowa sucks.
Ok I’ll admit that Iowa was not where I thought I would end up living, but my wife grew up here in corn country and I love her very much so I moved to the land of soy beans, corn and hogs. It seems to me that lately when Ron & Fez want to portray the ugly, ignorant or the rube they point to Iowa. “I can’t imagine dating a woman from Iowa; they’re all fat & ugly.” Or that Iowa is the furthest point from anything resembling intellect.
This is my request, lets move on to some other backwards state, just for a little while, and give Iowa a break. Try Utah.
BTW, here are some pics of my wife and I, see not everybody in Iowa is fat.

I feel silly when I hear Ron & Fez talk about how bad iowa is, I would like to feel good at another states expense. Not sure that this is a point, it's more of a request. BTW how are mom & baby doing?

You really gotta hand it to this kid, Turtle. He came in tonight and you know he had a purpose when he started this thread. Now he's just gotta bare down and see it through.
Oh. Steve the statistician just handed me this note...

Thank you Steve.

Believe me, I never thought I'd live in Indiana either. I drove through here once and made fun of it.
I grew up in WV. Those jokes never stop unless you go to Europe (they love "Country Roads" in Belgium for some reason). At least Ron respects West Virginia for its beauty.
You should write a hit song about Iowa, then everyone will change their minds.

Iowa has the Iowa Writers Workshop which was attended by, what I gather are, two of Rons favorite writers Kurt Vonnegut and John Irving. Also, one of my favorite authors, Flannery O'Connor.
Don't bag on Utah, there are some girls there.

Does your wife refuse to leave Iowa? Show her what the rest of the world has to offer. She might find that there is more to life than corn and wrasslin'.
I spent 8 years in the panhandle of Florida, and Ron bags on that place harder than anywhere else. Don't take it so hard.

I dated a woman from Sigourney, Iowa, for a couple of years in grad school (she wasn't ugly but she wasn't as hot as Turtle's wife). I went back to Iowa with her once and loved the small town atmosphere where you can leave your doors unlocked and the keys in the car.

Iowa is coming back in a big, big way.
They Got Hookers (http://www.dailyiowan.com/2009/04/28/Metro/11253.html)
They've got random violence (http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iSmDQOmyCFATKJGcur_vVqMdxitgD97OAEDG0)
and
They have sons who do free pacemaker removal (http://www.gazetteonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090427/NEWS/704289940/1006)
Lets not give up on Iowa yet. I think its coming back in a big, big way....wait for it.
Haven't we learned anythign from The Ron and Fez Show? Florida, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas, Northern Virginia, New Jersey, Queens - it doesn't matter where anyone is from, everyone's a hayseed if they aren't from Manhattan - specifically the Upper East Side (or the "U.E.S." as Mikeyboy likes to say). Everyone laughs at the jokes until that one thing they take too personally and it hits a little too close to home, and then the hurt feelings begin.

Circular depressions, some filled with water or clumps of trees, mark the location of sinkholes in this Clayton County aerial view. Sinkholes form by collapse of thin soil and unstable rock into underground crevice or cave openings. Shallow aquifers are vulnerable to contamination problems in this geologic setting. Though most common in northeastern Iowa, sinkholes are also seen in Floyd and Mitchell counties and in the Burlington area of southeastern Iowa.

I like Iowa...the women there ... a boatload of beautiful farmer's daughters blondes!
Besides there's nothing half way about the Iowa way to do things, when they do things, which they may not do at all!
Oh and Ioway state has the best writing programs in the USA!
So what the heck, you're welcome! Very glad to meet ya! Even though we may not ever mention it again!
If you want a state to pick on....Montana...phew...lotsa shall I say..Large Marge's

Some parts of Iowa are awesome. And yeah the women aren't bad there.
Ron's point was there's nothing to do there FOR RON. I you like college wrestling, tulip festivals, high school sports, fucking farmer's daughters, and making meth there's plenty to do.
How can you fuck with Montana? Glacier National Park. Mountains all over the place. Plus I saw a ton of hot women in Missoula and other parts.

I saw hot women in 2 places..both University areas....outside of that...oooofah! the bad far outweighs the good, literally and figuratively. The hotties you see..crazier than a shithouse rat..either religious freaks or rebellious teen meth heads. The scenery is great to be sure, the winters blow..not a fan of almost 9 months of sub 40 degree weather. I would get a summer house there anytime. For July to August.
Leaving Iowa
08-26-2009, 09:34 PM
Hi...
At age 10 I knew I was born in the wrong place (Iowa) and I had to leave as quickly as possible.
It was just everything about the state's culture and social structure that forced me to leave.
To leave Iowa I took the first bus out of town available to me in 1966 - I joined the US Army for the Vietnam War. I would rather risk my life in a war than remain in Iowa.
My families has lived in Iowa since 1870 - but I do not fit there.
I tried to live in Iowa 3 time since over the last 40+ years - it has always been a place where I did not and do fit.
Moving from New York City to reconnect with my family
My last attempt to live in Iowa was for 4+ years - lived in Iowa City - one of the most desirable places to live in that state. Great City
Again, I did not succeed in living there - again I did not fit - total cultural shock
I find the culture extremely backward, xenophobic, clan-ish, click-ish, people believing that everyone in Iowa believes the same thing. They have an in-common-sense about who they are and they mistake that situation for common sense which they lack. And that lack of common sense is keeping Iowa economically depressed, progressing and reduces opportunities.
And I found the people disgustingly obese, homely, unattractive, poorly groomed, sloppy in their dress, and a bit goofy. About 1 in about every 20 women over 40 years old was attractive to me and most of them were married. The University of Iowa college age women most of them were cute - but they are too young for me and are from places other than Iowa.
I found adult Iowans making fun of man and women who are physically fit and well dressed.
In addition, in Iowa ignorance of the law is an excuse - I had seen and have had to me that a number of people there try to cheat me or others in business deals through illegal actions. Followed by them - the Iowans did not know that action was illegal.
In closing, I recently took my girlfriend to Iowa for a weekend to see my family.
She found most of Iowa and people psychologically very depressing very low energy level - she said she could never live there - she ask me what the suicide rate is in Iowa.
A past girlfriend I took to Iowa in 1990 was standing at the edge of the Mississippi River in Nauvoo, Illinois after having spend a week there looking across the river at Iowa and said "Iowa, the land of eternal bleakness"
I recently moved from Iowa - I hope for the last time...

I like the NE corner of Iowa where we camp. It is bluffy with lots of rivers and streams. It is beautiful. The best part is that people are friendly. I would say 96% of the people wave at me when I drive by them. I love it. I would consider moving there.
