Beer + choking = mucus bomb

Recently, I was out with a few friends and one of them said a funny joke while I was in mid gulp of the bottom of myl pint of beer, I laughed and the oddest/most embarassing thing happened. Some beer went up my nose..and some down my throat. I coughed, then sneezed/puked up the largest amount of snot I ever saw like filled waterballoon amount ..some beer (what I had swallowed),into my nearby jacket pocket, but mostly snot..and my sinuses were clean!
Does snot just float around in your stomach? or did I rapidly flush my sinuses?
Needless to say, I got really strange looks from my friends.

Indeed, there can be some (or a lot) of mucus in the stomach, especially during allergy season, when you're recycling snot at a prodigious rate (nose-->esophagus-->stomach-->bloodstream-->nose). However, the respiratory tract can produce huge amounts of mucus really rapidly after a toxic insult. Some of this mucus may have come from your lungs, some from the nose, and the rest from your gi tract. the inner surface of the body is full of lovely mucus...it keeps everything nice and juicy.

I know it's gross..but I was worried when the snot amount looked like that movie where the guy pulls back the handkerchief and it is all dripping with snot...1) I never saw so much come out of me before 2) there is no way it could have been all in my sinus'..at least I don't think.
