On my ever-long quest to hit every major league ballpark while piggybacking on business travel, I have encountered a tough situation that needs remedy.

I am going to be attending a trade show in Baltimore during a week when the Orioles are out of town, but the Nationals are playing in DC.

I am looking for some logistical help for a guy trying to get from the Inner Harbor of Baltimore (basically from Camden Yards) to Nationals Park, and back again, using public transportation.

Any locals or veterans at this journey, please help!?

Why not just rent a car and mapquest it?

I dont know, me personally, I loathe public transportation. Thats one of the big reasons I could never live in NY. Even on the rare occasion Im there I drive up, park and take cabs everywhere.

I agree. Get a rental car out of BWI and take it to the game. Or, on the day of the game you're going, just rent it for the day.

If it is too difficult, or too time consuming, then I will rent a car and drive.

Half the fun of going to the ballpark for me is the public transit, people watching, talking with people about their season, etc.

It is really how you learn what a town feels about its team is by immersing yourself and becoming one of them.

I made the reverse trip several years ago going from DC to a game at Camden Yards.

I used some combination of Metro, MARC train, and Bus. It was a bitch, and I wound up getting to the game in about the 4th inning.

It's possible, especially if the game is on a weekday, but I would advise against it. Just rent a car for a day and save yourself the headache, and four hour roundtrip.

Another tip: just buy your tickets from scalpers at the stadium. Only a fool would pay full-price for Nats tickets at this point. I'd shoot for about 50% of face value for your tickets.

Obviously you have never tried to drive from Baltimore to DC from 5 PM to 7 PM. It doesnt work. One of the worst stretches in the country to try and cover at that time of day.

I have.

It's not pretty, but I would love to hear your public transportation solution.

Thanks for the advice on the tickets. I noticed the face values are exceptionally disheartening.

Id rather get that experience talking to fans at the game rather then people on the bus. But definitely leave early because traffic down there does blow. And yea, dont pay full price for Nats tickets, they are a joke.

Light Rail to BWI, Train (MARC or Amtrak) from BWI to Union Station, Metro to Nats park.

It's possible, but will probably cost as much as a rental...

Quoted for truth.
