I love to drink, but I prefer mixed drinks and wine. I am an expensive date for my husband. I envy all those gal beer drinkers. I have tried quite a few beers, but I can only knock them back after I have had quite a few mixed drinks. I want to learn to like beer! There is so much more variety, and it is cheaper!! Please Help!!

If you like sweet, try hefeweizens. They're pretty light and very tasty.

hmmmm since you like mixed drinks, i'd say start with corona and squeeze lime into it.

then go to heineken.

then you'll be ready to move on to real beer.

Well if you like sweet you would like a Lambic probably..but they don't serve them just anywhere. If you're going to a cheap regular bar you might want to try what a previous poster said with the Corona with a lime.

If you want to buy beer from a good store or in a good bar, I'd go for a wheat beer or hefeweizen such as Leinenkugel with an orange slice or Pyramid Hefeweizen with lemon wedge. I didn't really like beer but drank it just to get a buzz and then one day I had a Newcastle and since then I've been hooked and I pretty much only drink beer and not the cheap kind cuz I don't like the cheap coors or bud stuff, that's just awful beer.

I hope you find something you enjoy!

Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy is a good option, enough lemon to make you almost forget it's beer, enough beer to give you at least a decent buzz.

If you're starting from the girlie mixed drink I suggest trying something like a Framboise, after that you can move over to the blueberry, apricot and fruit flavored beers before you transition to something a little more "standard"

I totally agree with what the others have said.

Sam Adams Cherry Wheat is drinkable. I liked their Xmas ale...
I love the Rogue line of brews..especially Dead Guy ale, good with a Grilled Steak...
Not a great beer by any imagination, but on par with bud light in comparison of drinkability and price; Blue Moon ale....
I good Hefe is a thing of beauty.

Blue Moon

Summer Shandy
Sunset Wheat

Great beers for you to start out with..

Hoegaarten is one of my favorites, although I am not typically a sweet-beer drinker. (Tend to go for stouts and porters...)

Because it's got a higher alcohol content, they typically serve it in a wineglass. I usually find the bartender serves it with a lemon wheel, which actually does provide a nice contrast between the sweetness of the beer and the flavor of the lemon. (Also, Hoegaarten has some great citrus notes ... much like a nice white rioja wine.)

It's also almost time for Summer Ale, which I find better and sweeter than Blue Moon. Try that out, too.

Lots of places are already serving Sam Adams Summer Ale.

I wait all year for it as it's another one of my favorites!

Lastly, Corona may be cheap but it's got a nasty bitter aftertaste to me ... and usually tastes stale. Avoid Corona and go for Modelo Especiale.

I don't know much about beer and don't drink it that often either. I'd rather have wine. But I'm a huge sports fan so I love having a beer while watching a game. I prefer Canadian beer, Molson specifically. Just my two cents. Everyone has such different tastes it's hard to know what advice to follow. Good luck!

Or just take a few shots of Morgan before you leave the house so by the time you get out you don't care what kind of beer it is! :drunk:

Tons of people drank it at A&M and wore the t-shirts so I know what it is, just never tried it. I came from a Heineken family and I don't like that, too skunky. I tried Molson and Labatt's with my cousin's in upstate NY and liked it, so that and Miller Lite is about all I drink because I don't want to buy a new beer and not like it. I'm cheap like that.

I shall try it, sir.

I can make you like beer... It's just going to take a weekend and few things:
1) 2 kegs of Stella Artois
2) TV with dvd player
3) some aquarium tubing
4) a funnel
5) a car battery with jumper cables
6) NASCAR tickets
7) some pistachios
8) a simple dinner bell
9) $347.56 USD cash

most of these items, and a good deal of the beer, are for my own use. But with the rest of these things, let's just say that Pavlov would be drooling like one of his own dogs, and B.F. Skinner would be rethinking Operant Conditioning.

Shiner rocks the fat ass!I enjoted three with a big plate of boiled crawfish in Baytown Tx. yesterday. At home I generally drink Yeungling Lager. It is only brewed in Pottstown Pa and Tampa.

If you aren't a beer drinker it is going to take time to become one.My best advice would be to try some different brews with good bar food.Like go out for hot wings and try one or two with your meal. Most American standards,Bud,Miller, etc, probably will not appeal to your palate.I get a headache from drinking Bud.Light beers are usually too watery.

Another problem will be that if you are a somewhat experienced drinker you won't be able to drink enough beer to maintain a decent buzz.I weigh 200lbs and I have to do Jager shots with beers to achieve the desired effect.

Why not just stick with wine if thats what you like?

I was considering today that maybe the yelling at people and calling them fags and gays was your "Gimmic". But then i said; "No....he's probably just a jerk."

Soooo.....we can go on throwing jabs at each other if you are a jerk. But if this is just your gimmick....then I'll just ignore you.

this weekend I tried leinie's sunset wheat and the berry. They were good. the berry was too much like a wine cooler or something...turned my stomach. The summer shandy wasn't bad, kinda like Doc Otis. I tried a lot of leinie's this camping weekend because we got 6 packs 2/$10 Baby!

6 packs 2/$10 no wonder your stomach was turning.:smoke::drunk:
