I originally posted this in the listening thread. But thought it may deserve it's own thread. I think the Jason Ellis Show would be the perfect fit for the Virus 3:00 time slot. Thoughts?
"Wow! You guys are being a little harsh on Ellis Mate. His show is good. I caught the best of one Saturday on 202 and have been listening to it fairly regularly since then. It's different. That's what I like about it. Do you really want a O&A or Ron and Fez copycat? He plays off of his dumbness on the show. He knows he's a bit of a meathead.
I will admit that on O&A today, he did come across a little cocky. Not sure why that was. But Opie was egging him on too. I think this visit wasn't just a sit and hang visit, but a promote it visit. So in that regards he's supposed to be promoting himself.
I think his show would be the perfect fit to the 3:00 time slot on 202 and to join the Virus family. And we'd finally not have O&A on, 18 hours out of every day."

He has an awesome show. It is obvious that he hasnt been doing it as long as Stern, O&A, or RF but he acknowledges it and is a pretty damn entertaining dude. He is into Sports, chicks and music so I get why a lot of people here might not dig it. He is cocky thats what hes about and he is inspirational.
BTW this might belong in the "radio buddies" forum.

Agreed and I think that is in part what I like about it. At times it has a college radio show feel to it. I can see how not many chicks would dig his show. But same can be said of O&A.

Yeah, I am relatively new. But one of those was a listening thread and the other one was in the Radio Buddays forum. I original put this thread in the Everything Ron and Fez forum because I was suggesting that I think his show would be a good full time addition to the 3:00 slot on 202.

But that forum is about the Ron and Fez show, not everything about the Virus. Anything about other radio shows, such as Opie and Anthony, and not a listening thread goes in Radio Buddays.

Fair enough. I don't have a problem with it being moved. Just trying to explain my logic. If the thread is titled EVERYTHING Ron and Fez, I assume 202 is Ron and Fez. I haven't heard the godfather Ronnie B give Jason Ellis accolades yet so I wasn't sure if he was a "Radio Budday".

Ferrall was on Ellis' show today too. I had heard that Steve C from O&A was suppose to be on Elllis' show today too. But I missed the first hour so I'm not sure if he was on today or not. I think it would have been better if he had Sam.
Ellis also mentioned on his show today to one of his sidekicks, Raw Dog, that O&A have a sidekick similar to Raw Dog. Not sure if he was referring to Intern David or Sam.

To be honest I have only hear a little bit of Jason Ellis' show on Faction and I didn't stick around to long to give it a fair shot but i did enjoy him on O&A today.

I HATED that dude til I heard him on O&A, but he seems pretty cool.
I mean, I won't listen to his show now, but I don't dislike him.

I heard them mention yesterday on Ron and Fez, that the replay shows aired over the weekend are now going to be "best of" shows. The format will be similar to how they have been airing the Ellis Show on the weekends. It will have 2 hosts, probably ESD and Pepper Hicks, setting up each of the segments.

i disliked Ellis at first, but i have to say his show is quickly becoming my favorite non-R&F program played on the virus.

That's the worst thing I've heard all day. Just play the whole shows please. For us weekend listeners, hearing the same bit at the same time two days in a row is for sucks.

I've been listening to Ellis since Monday as a part of my never ending quest to fill the 4 hours that used to be O & A. His show is pretty fucking funny. When he went off on his apes vs man rant earlier this week and ended with(paraphrasing) " You can't put a monkey in an armbar" it was terrific. And the fact that not only doesn't he feel the need to pull the racist/homphobic shit, but actually speaks out against both is a refreshing change from the shock jocks of the last 25 years.
It's also nice to have someone interview a mixed martial artist without half of it being "wow you'd really kick my ass/we're not men/ooh aren't you tough" bullshit. If they could just shitcan the awful music between segments I'd be 100% with him, but even that is minimal enough to not be an issue.

I find him to be a mix of "Excited to be there guy" and "Trying to hard guy." He's not horrible, just wasn't that into his appearances on O&A.

i dig the ellismate i will admit he's not the same caliber comedian that im used to hearing on 202 & cowfucker can be trying at times i love the rawdog though. Ellis is very inspirational and seems really concerned with his fellow man ive lost over 40 lbs just following his advice im now a svelt 200 lbs and i couldnt have done it without hearing his simple man the fuck up, the world is yours, you only have one life speech.

I'm not always crazy about the music either. But I prefer it over having commercials for Pro Flowers, Swiss America, Carbonite, etc. It reminds me of the original promotions for for satellite radio of being commercial free.
He pulled an old school O&A today of going an hour longer than the scheduled time.

As I've already mentioned, I think his show would be a perfect fit for the 3:00, slot if they're serious of the original intent of filling the channel with a couple more shows. He often mentions that he thinks he and Scott Ferrall should have their on channel. And he's mentioned that he thinks that Stern is awesome. So I predict if he doesn't end up on the Virus, somebody else will pick him up. I definitely think Opie sees that too. I'd say Opie's a pretty good judge of talent, don't you think?

I didn't catch him on O&A but caught the show last weekend while we were out and about driving around. I have to say, I didn't love it and after a bit we gave up and switched the channel. He just didn't seem to have the right vibe for 202 for me.

I don't get the love for Clay either. Even back when he was big, he only had one basic act: being a racist, misogynistic, homophobic goombah. He's never shown any ability to do anything beyond that tired act.

I have a feeling he will end up on 202 not because Opie thinks he is a good. Because once these companies merged it seems like they have forced 202 to add more content to their channel.

Yeah i like Jason i look forward to him on Sat. He has good potential in being a good radio host. He has his moments when he is very funny, and hilarious. If Xm is looking to fill some spots. He is perfect for the job. Dont know how they are going to add him thought seeing now that R&F is going to be on earlier and later. But he is definitely funny.

I've been listening to Ellis alot lately and I would just like to make a few observations.
He is new to radio. He will certainly get more polished with experience.
He talks about Stern but why wouldn't he?Stern is the big dog in radio and at Sirius. It would be detrimental to his career to talk shit about him.
Most of his bravado shit talking is tounge in cheek, like when Opie asked him why he doesn't fight Rampage."Because I would fucking die!!!"
Opie wouldn't be putting the guy over if he didn't want to.If Sirius was forcing him he would be a sarcastic douche.
I like the guy and when I'm by the radio I've been listening to him.

His show is ok. And it is somewhat comforting to know that the guy behind the mic telling you how cool he is and all the hot chicks that he scores isn't an old, fat, bald, ugly bespectacled loser; e.g. Tom Leykis.
