ok, when you plan a vacation, which do you generally prefer:

City Vacation - Check out a new city you never been to. Bars, hotels, tour guides, museums etc

Country Vacation - maybe a small town, camping, fishing trip or even a beach house. Place to get away from a lot of people. Relax

i like to go to new cities for vactions (when i actually had money). i live in a place where a lot come to vacation out of the city. lot's of country, lakes, fishing, camping, etc. so when i go someplace, i want to go someplace where i will have something exciting to do. i love walking through the streets of cities all day long.

This poll needs a Beach option. I don't think beach falls under "country", especially if it's a really crowded area.

with beach, i think places like Miami, Myrtle Beach, some of those places in Maui would be a city vacation because its still lots of people gathering to check out a place with bars and nightlife and tourist sites and stuff. However, a place like a beach house in a little known town or a very quiet serene area would be a country vacation

these days i might go to a big city since I live close to the mountains/country already, that's a weekend trip usually

You should really consult Gregoryvacation. I mean, vacation is in his name! Otherwise, I'd vote for a city, the more historical the better.

Depends on what the mood calls for.

I think warmer weather country and autumn/winter city.

#1 choice is the tropics, then i'd rather wander around a city in nice weather.

rarely vacation in the country/mountains unless it's the winter & i'm snowboarding. i'm not the hiking/fishing/camping type of person

City. Easier to get blow and so many bars to get fucked up. And that's what vacation is all about for me.

Agreed, but technically that's not a vacation.

Where would you go on vacation?

Carribbean Island
St John USVI first choice

Both.

My current favorite is south of Cancun; it is a resort and a small gated town. I love venturing into caves, cenotes, and Mayan ruins. I will travel north to Playa Del Carmen to shop, eat, and bar hop one day out of each vacation.

I love to venture to my property 90 miles north of Houston.

I love historic cities.

City: I like action and seeing lots of people. We recently went to Manhattan. I loved it. I crave it every day. I have been bored as hell since we got back. I have been to Barcelona too....that was one cool city being that it is on the Mediterranean and has all of what the city has to offer too.

We live in the tiniest town, and we camp in country. I get plenty of relaxation there.

I like both equally. However, my family owns many many acres of land where I can disappear to for free.

add me to the idiots who misread the topic and thought this was about the Vatican.

the answer to that question is "City-State".

country, mainly a beach or lake house... somewhere to drown out all that everyday noise

I usually go for an island.

But out of the two choices, it would be city.

What part of RI? I just spend the weekend in Narragansett.

The older I get the less I like people so I prefer the country. My mom and step dad retired to Lake Winnipesaukee in NH and I love it there, my dad also recently got a home in NM that is up in the hills with no one around. I love it.

Wow... I'm taking this exact vacation in a few weeks.

And Mexico is desperate for tourists... I've already scored some great deals and an upgrade to an ocean-front villa!

I live in the one of the most miserable looking places of MN and I still would choose the country.

We went to NYC in April and it was a blast and I will do it again, but given the choice of NYC or Bozeman, MT (equal distance from me) its Bozeman. More to offer for me, but not my wife. Conundrum.
