Those silly europeans seem to think it is a normal thing to do (yes France, I am looking at you).
But, I have a different take. If I were to smoke anything while eating anything, I can easily imagine that it would alter the taste of what I am eating.
Now, some of you might say that when having a steak, it is ok to smoke with it.
But, I ask you, is it ok to have a cigarette with a bowl of lucky charms?
I think not!
Save your smoking for after a meal is what I say!
You?
Enjoy the meal first, then have a smoke when you're done.

I don't know, I rarely have seen anyone smoke WHILE eating, I actually never saw anyone do that.
Smoke at the table before and after? Sure, that happens but even that is annoying to me.
I remember telling my sister off once when she started lighting up after a lunch while I was sitting at the table with my kid who was just a little baby at the time.

<font color="deeppink"> no smoking
Good food requires good atmosphere. If you like smoking, I suppose it can help enhance your food. Personally, I'd rather eat in a bus terminal than with smokers.

Smoking has got to be one of the oddest habits I can't imagine why someone would start.

Because when you were 15, all the kids were doing it!! Well, at least the FUN kids were doing it. Then later in life you have to quit because you are pregnant and shouldn't smoke when you are pregnant. Then after that you crave them every time you have a night on the town.
And to reply to the poll:
No I never smoked during a meal, in fact, I smoked to replace meals. I think that is why I USED to be skinny.

i have allergy-induced asthma. cigarette smoke appears to be one of the allergens that most strongly affects me. i decided to face it after smoking for a year or so and wondering why i couldn't walk 3/4 of a mile without nearly passing out from lack of oxygen. that was awesome!

A cigar after a big meal is the way to go.

Does Ron really smoke a cigar while he's eating a steak?

This actually reminds me of a question. My Mom's boss died of stomach cancer. Someone said she got it from smoking while she ate. Could this even happen? I mean, stomach cancer is different from lung cancer. Right? Anyone?

Ditto. I at least have the common courtesy to get up and go away to smoke when someone is next to me eating.

Smoke all you want when you are eating, if it's what you like to do. But in the company of others while eating you should refrain.
