I'm going into NYC tomorrow with my wife and her friend. Our main goal is to be leaving mid-town Manhattan by 4PM to make Yankee Stadium by 5 for the game.

On my list of things to do, I just had B&H, which we'd for for an hour between 11am and 12. What else can we do in those four hours to have some fun in the city? I'm not talking going to the Empire State or something, just cool little places to have lunch or something.

Does it have to be in Manhattan?
I'd Head up to the BX after your thing at 12.

Bronx Zoo or NY Botanical Gardens followed by a relaxed early dinner in Belmont (Arthur Ave.)

Mario's on Arthur or Roberto on Crescent Ave. (my favorite). Roberto can be pricey, but I think the food's worth it.
Skip desert in either and go to Morrone's on Arthur or Egidio on 187th(?) for pastries and espresso.

Really matty, you don't know what to do in manhatten?

For a cheap but cool place for eats I'd suggest Big Nicks at 77th St. and Amsterdam.

Plus you're taking the 6 to the stadium I assume, right? You might need more time then an hour from midtown at that time. I could be wrong, been a while since I've been to a yanks game, unfortunately.

Go to the Museum of Natural History for a while.
Then head over to Florio's. Fez is buying.

Negative. Driving.

Plan is to park in Midtown, then go uptown.

I always liked Daisy May's. Hell if I know the street it's on though. Near the Lincoln Tunnel.

Mario's will give you the big Italian/American portions if you wanna eat... Just stay out of Dominick's; huge portions of shitty spaghetti in a crowded (or shared) environment.

Like I suggested...
Take some time to enjoy your dinner, some wine, conversation, have fun! at that hour you can even let the waiter know that you have time to kill. (slow it down)...if it's bad you still have the best cannolis and coffee on earth to look forward to!

If the weather isn't so hot for the outdoor scene at the zoo or the garden, grab dogs and hit a museum in Manhattan, maybe the met, before your meal in Belmont.

Good Luck!

We ended up going to Mario's.

Spedini as an appetizer was great. Liz had eggplant parm which she liked; our friend had something which I can't remember that she liked, but I had chicken francese and it was AWFUL. Chicken Francese is supposed to be a hint of lemon, tons and tons of overpowering lemon. I couldn't eat it because it was just so lemony. Liz ate a bite too and agreed. Which is a damn shame; it was a nice place.

We also ate at the stadium.

Garlic fries: Amazing
Hot dogs: Great
Beer: Cold and refreshing (and six bucks for a domestic draft!)
Brother Jimmy's: Awful.
Johnny Rockets: Reportedly awful.

BTW, we actually did this:

We got out late because I slept in, so we didn't leave until around 11:30. Got into the city around 12:30, parked on 37th street.

Walked to B&H and had a good experience. Everyone knew JustJon, it was amazing.

Then walked from B&H to the Yankees Store in times square. I wanted to see if they had any other 50% off jerseys. I got a Yankee Universe T-shirt.

Then drove from Manhattan to the Bronx, and we were all amazed how the demographics and the "scene" changed in the Bronx once we got to Arthur Ave. It was SHOCKING.

Spent about an hour and fifteen at lunch.

We left, got to the stadium around 4pm, spent the rest of the day there. The late start prevented anything else...

Next time - Roberto's on Arthur Ave.

Only problem with Roberto's is that they are closed between 2:30 and 5, according to the website, which didn't sync with out schedule. Plus I had a need for spedini, which wasn't on Roberto's menu.
