I don't know who determined the satisfactory number of shrimp should be in a meal, but I disagree with it. I had really good grilled to perfection and marinated shrimp and of course, they only gave me 4 pieces with my steak. But I wonder, how much perfectly grilled shrimp could you eat? I think I could eat it by the snow shovel full. I am sure an entire pasta strainer full would not be a problem.
How much could you eat? I think I would be limited by the capacity of my stomach and esophagus!

I think 30, technically I could eat more but I think i'd be nauseas...

I'm always disappointed by the number of shrimp I get at restaurants. Just last week I was at a Thai place and I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp and I got the same deal - 4 shrimp.

But when I cook shrimp at home - yea, by the shovel full for me too. Love it.

Love grilled shrimp...not sure how many I could eat, but usually just eat a skewer full.

Shrimp are high in cholesterol so I suppose that is why portions are small or restaurants just want to charge you an arm and a leg for them like everything else.

Shrimp is right behind lobster as the most overrated food ever.

If you were honest you'd admit they're completely flavorless unless they're slathered with some sort of sauce or marinade.

A piece of styrofoam coated in butter or cocktail sauce would taste just as good.

I'm not a shrimp guy. I wish I was because I see how people who ARE shrimp people will go ga ga over them. But I do have to say that grilled and also coconut covered shrimp are the 2 kinds I have eaten in the past and thought they tasted awesome.

Seriously...eat a lobster or some shrimp without any condiments and tell me it's tasty.

You'd be lying through your teeth.

Now do the same with a beautiful medium-rare steak.

One has flavor, one doesn't.

I win.

Lobster is unbelievable at all times. Shrimp is good if I'm in the right mood, I consider it more of an app. I could eat 10.

10 to 16 is best, depending on the size of the shrimp

With a steak "surf and turf"... 3 U-12's (12 to a pound)
Without... 5 or 7 U12s over rice or pasta
A "real" restaurant won't serve anything in even numbers. Especially Asian or Italian places (fine dining)... It's bad luck! Surprised to hear you got four. Where were you?...The Olive Garden? How were the fucking breadsticks?

I could finish off a pound easily.

I need to get another auto injector so I can go on a shrimp feast soon cause this thread has me remembering the succulent taste of shrimp kabobs with a wonderful garlic butter sau.

You have to be careful when you buy shrimp. Most retaurants and grocery stores(especially in the north) use farm raised shrimp from China. It is bland and flavorless.Real wild caught shrimp is delicious.Living in Fl. even the local Publix supermarkets will try to pull the import shit if you don't watch.

I realize that most people don't live so close to the Gulf of Mexico and I'm not trying to come off like a dick.I have the luxury of having two fresh sea food markets within two miles of my house and we get to buy our shrimp right off of the boat.If you ever travel this way Gvac send me a pm.I would love for you to try thr real thing.

We used to go to this all you can eat seafood buffet in Rhode Island. I could easily eat a pound of shrimp: only because I was saving room for lobsters, clams and mussels.

To me, its the texture and flavor of whatever they are seasoned with. I know what gvac is saying that by themselves they are bland. I just like how they pick up other flavors and there is something clean about them. I like how they snap as you bite into it.
The Portuguese have this way of seasoning them and you peel and eat them and its messy but its so damn good. I would eat much more than I do but I am afraid of looking like a gavone.

A month or so ago my wife and I went to some dock in Tampa Bay, apparently it was afederal facility becuase we had to show proof of citizenship to get in, we bought some freshly caught (and frozen shrimp).
We cleaned and deveined those monsters (huge pain in the ass), dusted half with old bay and half with a jerk curry powder, grilled them and almost died because we couldn't stop eating them.
So fucking good!

I live 2 miles from the coast and love that I can head down there and buy all the fresh never frozen sea food I want. I can also run down to Galveston for sea food to if I miss it from the docks here.

I fucking love shrimp. And yes gvac, they are extremely tasty just on their own. It's usually the way I prefer it.

As for how many I could eat, its a LOT. There was one vacation I was on in bethany beach and I had a pound of steamed peel and eat shrimp for an appetizer every night I was there. I think I could eat shrimp all day long and be unfazed.

I was at a Portuguese graduation party yesterday and among the food was a huge tray of their sauteed shrimp and I tried to hide the amount I took, because I was afraid they would see me and consider me whatever they call a gavone in Portuguese. But I had at least 15 thumb size shrimp in addition to the barbequed chicken and all the other stuff I shoveled into my pie hole.
