What a scam that turned out to be, eh?

Men convinced women that they were getting a good deal and "equal" treatment and they fell for it hook, line, and sinker!

30+ years later women still haven't caught on as to how short sighted they were!

And you chicks wonder why men rule the world.

I like to believe they just realized they have it pretty good, with the men
opening doors for them and buying them dinner.

They just decided to leave well enough alone.

I LOVE letting doors slam in women's faces. If we're all equal, they can handle the door themselves.

So... is this a preamble to you telling us about your "secret?"

Women's Liberation
Came creepin' across the nation
I tell you people I was not ready
When I fucked this dyke by the name of Freddie
She made a little speech then,
Aw, she tried to make me say "when"
She had my balls in a vice, but she left the dick
I guess it's still hooked on, but now it shoots too quick

Think about it logically - women were positive that the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment and their battle for "Women's Lib" would empower them.

If anything, it has done the exact opposite.

I hope this thread means that GVAC is only subbing for Blowhard as the resident 1970's historian and not getting into a silverback challenge for the position. :glurps:

Back on topic. One thread of feminism led to this:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KACQuZVAE3s&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KACQuZVAE3s&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

while another has led to the point where about 60% of college graduates these days are women and there are female CEOs at such Fortune 500 companies as DuPont, PepsiCo, Archer Daniels Midland, Sunoco, Xerox, Kraft Foods, etc. Unfortunately for me I'm too middle-aged to sleep my way up the food chain at these places anymore but you young guys can keep the dream alive.

So if you guys are counting on your (deteriorating) Y chromosome to keep you as the alpha dogs, you might want to consider improving your game as part of the plan. Unless, of course, you happen to be GVAC who will no doubt be remembered by history as the last Great White Hope. *

Think about it logically - women were positive that the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment and their battle for "Women's Lib" would empower them.

If anything, it has done the exact opposite.

(1) The Equal Rights Amendment was never actually passed. (http://www.equalrightsamendment.org/)

(2) You're probably thinking about the strides made since the passage of Title IX (http://www.dol.gov/oasam/regs/statutes/titleIX.htm) in 1972 (which was 37 years ago, not 30) that has most often been used as the justification for things like affirmative action, female cadets at military schools and girls playing baseball or football when no equivalent girls' program exists at their school or in their town.

(3) It may depend on what you mean by "empower" ... if you mean it empowers women by making it more possible for her to advance her career to CEO, then, yes, Title IX and several generations of "feminism" has done quite a bit for women in business.

There are still strides that need to be made, but not necessarily legislated. It's more important to realize that women and men need to change their attitudes toward gender roles and expectations. Things like paid paternity leave for new Dads are innovative answers that start to touch on the importance of equalizing gender roles and expectations in a business environment. They also create new challenges for workers and management types because of the "new" need to balance one's work and home lives.

i think ERA's would be lower if pitchers didn't have to worry about cooking dinner when they got home from the ballpark.

Bless you.

Sounds like you remember the days when men were men and women were glad to have 'em!

I don't worry about my earned run average, I'm more concerned with my on base percentage.

That is a mighty fine thesis. Care to support it with any evidence (circumstantial or otherwise)?

The guys who complained the most about women getting promoted over them were usually the ones counting on getting a promotion because they were "tight" with their bosses.

The only woman I had a problem with when I was working in the computer industry openly admitted to banging the boss to get her promotion and later banged the suits in the takeover company to retain her job. The woman knew very little about her job responsibilities, the products she represented or how to deal with people. But she came to the states from another country where members of her extended family were murdered by the government. She used similar techniques to escape death... or so she said.

But, most of the bosses or supervisors who I had issues were men who were too chummy with the laziest, most irresponsible employees on their staff.

What's slit got to do with it?
