When is the evil dead box set coming out? By the way that ending really does suck.

i saw it years ago and it's on the Special Edition DVD. It's good but doesn't fit in with the goofy atmosphere of AoD, more the downer endings of ED1 and 2

I think the ending would have worked....if it was a segue into a fourth ED film (which, alas, will most likely never happen). But the theatrical ending works best for me. Hail to the King, baby.
BTW, if you haven't read it, you should definitely pick up a copy of Bruce Campbell's book, "If Chins Could Kill". Some funny stuff, plus some nice insight into the cheesy side of the business.

Oh come on. The Hail to the King ending certainly leads for an Evil Dead 4, it shows the Deadites in modern times in modern society.
Hail to the King is a far better ending fitting the tone of the film
