Being replaced by Jon Gruden. Yah?
Apparently... His fear of flying has gotten the best of him. (http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/watchdog/blog/2009/05/tony_kornheiser_out_john_grude.html)

A guy I can't stand being replaced by... another guy I can't stand. Looks like it's another year of watching with the sound turned down.

Good News to me
i always enjoyed his radio show when he did it and he said that he would return to it when he left MNF So I'll take it

He's great on PTI, but he's really intolerable on MNF. Frankly, the guy just isn't a football guy and doesn't really have much to add to the conversation. I'm not sure Gruden will be any better on the irritation front. I'd rather have seen Jaws get the chair.

Great guy, doesn't belong in the booth. Much like Jaws who should not be analyzing football live but should be locked in a room breaking down tape. Gruden should be terrible

Has Jaws ever actually gotten a shot at live coverage? I'd love to see him try his hand at it.

He's done color for Monday Night Football for the last two years

Jaws used to be the CC for all of the Buc's preseason games as well. I actually thought he did a damn fine job.

I'm not even saying he does a bad job but so many more people can do what he does.
But he is excellent at breaking down film and that's what he should be doing all the time. He can actually teach people something and makes the game more interesting.

Jaws replaced Theissman, didn't he? The booth has been Kornheiser, Jaws, and Tirico for the last two years since Theissman left.

he can't be worse then kornheiser...
but does espn ever get anything right? their sunday night baseball guys are by far the WORST. and the MNF crew isn't much better, it was embarrasing to hear kornheiser make jokes and no one laugh the entire year
espn is to sports what mtv is to music. both of them take a great art and destroy it, as much as i love sports i can't even watch espn anymore, i'll watch espn news to get my scores but for real F sportscenter and espn it's straight garbage

Not looking forward to Gruden. He just sounds angry every time he talks which is going to be annoying. I like a little humor in the booth, and I do not see much from the current three at all.

I don't think attempts at humor have a place in the booth of any major sport. That is what tarnished the MNF franchise at ESPN to begin with. Mike and Mike are good on the radio but hacks in the booth. Tony Kornheiser almost single handedly ruined MNF for me with his weak attempts. Even Jon Miller on Sunday Night Baseball annoys me sometimes and I can't even stand a game with Chris Berman.

i love kornheiser. i watch pti everyday. i dont really care if he left thoguh because i only watched mnf when the broncos played, as will be the case this season.
The behind the scenes scuttle is they wanted to get rid of Kornheiser at the end of the season, but decided to wait and give him the chance to leave under a phony "fear of flying" story.

I love Johnny and Joe on Sunday night baseball - I say they are the best!

That wouldn't surprise me. Tony has been hinting about hist job being in jeopardy for quite a while on PTI. It's more than likely that he knew he was done.

I love PTI, and I was a fan of Old Guy Radio. Never thought he fit in on MNF.
