are you a red poster or a blue poster?
some are quite obvious (sp1!, mojo, epo, to name a few), others are harder to determine. So, what color are you? http://redbluerichpoor.com/blog/ (http://w)

I don't take marching orders from either of the major political parties in this country.

I have a mind of my own, and I use it well.

This isn't about being specifically a Republican or Democrat.

It's asking where do you typically fall on the general political spectrum.

Everyone at least leans mostly one way politically-speaking.

I tend to think both sides are insane, to be honest.

For instance, people are praising Obama for signing the credit card reform bill today, limiting the amount of interest a company can charge on past due amounts.

Hooray! Awesome! This'll show 'em!

The credit card companies have said that to make up for the lost revenue, however, they'll either charge an annual fee just to have the card or institute a per-use fee. They'll also be doing away with frequent flier miles, hotel discounts, price protection, and all the other perks.

So who really won?

It's all a dog and pony show.

The left will Praise Obama for this bill, but if Bush was still president and signed the exact same thing they'd bash him. And vice versa.

All nonsense.

And you believe the credit card companies?

Believe that they'd find another way to screw the consumer? Of course.

And you missed the entire point.

As I said, if Bush signed this bill the left would have crucified him.

Now that Obama has signed it the right is bashing him.

So for years you've bemoaned the power of the corporations in this nation over people and this is your stance on this bill?

You make zero sense right now.

No they wouldn't. Congressional Democrats have been pushing for this kind of bill for years but they were either not in the majority in Congress or faced a Presidential Veto that they could not over turn if they did pass it.

You are the one being way too over simplistic here.

I'm a moderate and don't affiliate with either party, but I honestly don't understand the position of Republican party.

On the left we've got a party that wants you to give up all your Earthly possessions to feed the poor, clothe the hungry, and care for the sick. It's anti-war, pro-tolerance and understanding, and equal rights for all.

And on the right you've got a party who's mantra is every man for him self, thinks you should keep your cash whether others are in need or not. Is pro-war, pro-gun, and generally drags their feet in legal matters of tolerance and acceptance.

Guess which party claims Jesus?

It makes perfect sense.

The bill did NOTHING but make some people feel better.

"We stopped those bastards from charging you a high interest rate!"

They did nothing to stop them from making that money in other ways, however.

Now you'll have to pay an annual fee, or a transaction fee every time you use it.

So who "won"?

Gvac's point, though, is the hypocrisy we see daily. What's ok for one side is always an impeachable offense on the other, and both sides are guilty of this.

Gvac's point, though, is the hypocrisy we see daily. What's ok for one side is always an impeachable offense on the other, and both sides are guilty of this.

But the example in this case doesn't make sense. This is something the Democrats wanted to do but couldn't. The Republicans were against it and still are. It's constant.

I'm not saying that what GVac was saying never happens. But this whole notion that the two sides are identical and hypocritical all the time is just as intellectually lazy as those who are mindlessly on one side or the other. There are some things that either party or either ideology stridently stand for and sometimes one side is clearly right and the other is clearly wrong.

They're going to make the money up somewhere like GVAC said. I have not read the bill, but if it allows them to increase late fees, they're going to do that. If the legislation tightly limits interest and fees, they're going to take other steps to make cc more profitable.

All interest rates consist of a number of factors, one of which is default risk. Several of the largest cc companies say they're losing huge money due to the number of defaults. If the gov't reduces maximum cc rates, the result is going to be that alot of people with marginal or poor credit are going to see their credit cards disappear. Yes, I know that they are the most profitable customers, but that's the past. If the new law effectively limits interest and fees, those formerly profitable customers will be history. If the cc companies figure a way around the new law, then nothing will change and the cc users will be paying the same amounts they always did, it will just be called something else.

Supporters of this law better be aware of unintended consequences. If the cc companies start closing accounts, watch what it will do credit scores and the ability of people to obtain mortgage loans, car loans, etc. . . .

To get back on track with the thread, I don't know what color poster I am. I'm fiscally conservative and socially liberal. I don't want the government involved with my business or social life or with anyone else's. I won't ask for any governmental assistance but the trade off is to leave me the fuck alone and don't over-regulate my business or personal life. I don't want to pay alot in taxes b/c the government will piss away as much money I give it. I donate my time and money to charities, and I choose the charities that don't waste my donations on administrative expenses or on what I consider unworthy causes. Finally, I don't care who anyone else marries or fucks, as long as a kid is not involved.
