View Full Version : Has anyone used Rosetta Stone?

I took Russian in college (Good lord, I graduated 20 years ago!). I've lost a lot of my vocabulary and I really need to brush up on my conversation skills.

Rosetta Stone is expensive ($550 for levels 1, 2, & 3). The cheapest alternative is the 6-month on-line subscription for $200, but I'm not sure I'll have the time to devote set times for it.

Any one with other suggestions?

Bolshoi cpaceeba!

Yes, it's very good. Highest recommendation. Helped me learn Arabic and Farsi...

Damn you James! I'd be pissed if you didn't make me laugh.

(For some reason I read your responses with Patrick Warburton's voice in my head).

MY ULTIMATE QUESTION: is it worth the price??

I'm not sure I can devote the time to the on-live subscription (6 months at $200). Levels 1, 2, & 3 software is $600. At least I know I can go back to it.

I want to hear from the people who sunk $600.

I would in a second but it's too expensive.

A Bulgarian woman I know said it was worth it for her, but she had to use it to learn the language of the country she is now living in. In other words... It works very well, but you have to decide how important it is for you to learn the language right now.

I want to remember what I forgot. I want to have a grasp of the language.

I actually put an ad on a JC message board for a native speaker to help my with my vocabulary and my conversation. I'm well aware it can be a scam.

Yes, I have bought it, however have not finished the courses. It is kinda fun, the part I got through already. It is very expensive, but is tax deductable if you need it for work!
