NK sucks. Naval blockade their ass until fuel runs out then we pounce right into their capital.
They've already completed a nuclear test but the explosion ended up being far smaller than what they claimed or what was expected.

There is a Korean market in Plainview and it is awesome and the Koreans in the store and the area are very nice and clean and I would go so far as to say that their sense of cleanliness and "normal" food and their thinking is much more mainstream than other orientals I have encountered. I assume they are not from the same place as that crazy dictator. I hope that he does not attack those nice people with it. If he does try, I hope we stop him.

SEOUL, South Korea – The U.S. and South Korea put their military forces on high alert Thursday after North Korea renounced the truce keeping the peace between the two Koreas since 1953. The North also accused the U.S. of preparing to attack the isolated communist country in the wake of its second nuclear bomb test, and warned it would retaliate to any hostility with "merciless" and dangerous ferocity.

they have limited control over the North Korean leadership and they aren't going to do anything that could bring down the Pyongyang regime. China's biggest worry is a complete NK collapse. That would create instability in their Northeast which already has enough problems with unemployed laborers. so, they aren't going to suddenly cut off trade with North Korea.

Part of me is hoping N Korea invades S Korea and fucks with us at the same time, and tries to use a nuke. Then, we'd be forced to retaliate and our current leadership and their weak kneed stance on things will be exposed as the hypocrites that they are when they do so, and a World War would result and we would not dealing with Chinese imports because China will stand with Korea, and the US will have to renew it's industrial capability, and begin to be producers once again instead of consumers, and this will cause our unemployment to cease to exist.

Do all republicans believe this horseshit? Nobody is using a fucking nuke. Please. What do you guys want to do anyway? Send troops over there too? Dont you get it? Thats the biggest reason the republicans lost this time. You guys just want to send our fucking armies into every country out there. Iraq is the reason the US is in fucking debt up to their eyebrows. Correct on all but Vietnam. JFK and LBJ escalated, but that was Eisenhower's baby. It's also arguably not very effective to lump WWI and WWII, which were essentially "necessary" conflicts, with ones like Korea and Vietnam. The presidents at those times simply happened to be Democrats. Any Republican likely would have followed the same route.

(1) "After a brief emergency meeting held at Japan's request, the UN Security Council demanded that North Korea abide by two previous resolutions”

(2) "The current Security Council president, made clear in a statement that the council's condemnation was only an initial response, and that more will follow. He said it was too early to give any specifics.”

Some people have such weak defense/explanation/rationale for such statements by Special Envoys. Is it asking too much for someone in such a position to have a clue, or if they don’t have clue to at least have the judgment and knowledge not to exhibit such naïveté. Why have a special envoy who doesn’t have a clue. And if no one can have a clue, why have a special envoy at all. Either way:

That statement would only be worse if it was put on a giant banner behind the president as he gave a speech dressed up like a 5yo on Halloween as a pilot.
Maybe if everyone in the world wasn't aware of the fact that America will not get into another military engagement, as two is enough, we would have leverage. Unfortunately, North Korea must be well aware of the fact that our military is not capable of any meaningful action there and the public will not stand for another proactive "war."

Amazing, to take simple, somewhat humorous, regretful statements made by the current administration and UN for they are – kinda dumb - and spin it back into a Bush-bashing and anti-war diatribe. Especially when no supporting statements about Bush and war were made in any way in the first place. And the statement about the giant banner really makes absolutely NO sense at all.

Your post was obviously not a serious commentary on the envoy's statement. He made a public statement, which usually has little in common with what is actually happening.
You tried to spin it into an example of how incompetent he is.
I referenced a very funny moment, Bush standing in front of a banner that read "mission accomplished." What was the mission again?
Oh yeah, I know Bush didn't know about the banner, anyone can just fly a huge banner behind the president without getting approval.

CBS News: Bartlett: "Mission Accomplished" Banner Was My Fault
At his news conference yesterday, President Bush said the decision to put a "Mission Accomplished" banner on the aircraft carrier where he gave a speech following the invasion of Iraq in 2003 was a "mistake."
It was not his mistake, however, according to CBS News political analyst Dan Bartlett, a former senior advisor to Mr. Bush. Asked this morning by Harry Smith, co-anchor of CBS' The Early Show, who was responsible for the banner – Smith pointed out that both the Navy and former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan have taken the blame in the past – Bartlett said that it was actually his call.
"Quite frankly, yours truly was the guy who actually signed off" on posting the banner, Bartlett said, after people on the aircraft carrier approached the White House with the idea. "I regret it to this day, because it did send the wrong message." (http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/01/13/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry4718462.shtml)
So it was suggested by the crew of the aircraft carrier and then signed off by an aid. The important part of this is that it wasn't even Bush's idea to have the "Mission Accomplished" banner. It came from the crew of the aircraft carrier. I know it sucks to have yet another myth destroyed for you, but have no fear... I'm sure it won't stop you from mentioning it again next time you need to trash Bush.
As for the use of the jet to land on the aircraft carrier for that speech...
You can't land Air Force One on an aircraft carrier.
He could have landed a helicopter

Serious commentary? Who cares? He said what he said and anyone with half an objective brain would look at it and say “oops”, and chuckle a bit. Who would actually try to defend such a remark? As you are now at least the second one to try to do so, I guess there are some that would, for whatever reason. I didn’t have to spin a thing, actually, nor did I try.
As for the banner, your comment in response to what I said remains a non sequitur - didn’t. make. any. sense. – and was a MOST transparent attempt to try to introduce anti-Bush sentiment into something where it just didn’t fit.
And actually, war is an option, one I hope doesn’t come to pass. But, the military clearly stated this week that they could deal with N Korea if they had to. However, we have some 28,000 thousand troops in S Korea now, largely as a deterrent as they could be easily overrun by the 1M+ N Korean troops, and I don’t think N Korea is that stupid – but I could be wrong – after all, I’m no Special Envoy.

However, we have some 28,000 thousand troops in S Korea now, largely as a deterrent as they could be easily overrun by the 1M+ N Korean troops, and I don’t think N Korea is that stupid – but I could be wrong – after all, I’m no Special Envoy.
Oh I get it. The military would say "No, we can't deal with North Korea now, please wait a couple of years."
How many is 28,000 thousand, is it anything like 28,000 or 28 million?
The amount of troops is not the issue. The issue is America's willingness to engage in war. We have been lied into almost every war we have fought, because Americans do not like fighting overseas.
I have no doubt we could beat North Korea. The same reason I had no doubt that Iraq was never a threat. Our military has been unparalleled since WWII.

I’m not sure you do get it. It’s more like 90 days, at most, with a good amount of conventional force available to put on N. Korea probably within days.
http://www2.tbo.com/content/2009/may/28/282045/n-korea-situation-doesnt-warrant-more-troops-defen/news-politics/
As for the 28,000, again, not the point. The obviously small number is a trigger force. If some number of our 28,000 were attacked by N Korea choosing to break the truce with combat action, and any substantial number of ours were killed or injured, I assure you the willingness to strike back hard would be clear and unequivocal. And, most important, our unparalleled military needs to remain so, indefinitely. Hence the term “lone superpower”.

CBS News: Bartlett: "Mission Accomplished" Banner Was My Fault
(http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/01/13/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry4718462.shtml)
Who gives a shit?
I didn't think it was his idea. But it was someone that he is responsible for who approved it.
Here's a surprise. Most of the President's job is either approving other people's ideas, or entrusting them to run without supervision. However, in the end he is responsible for their actions.
It's not a big deal. Just a funny clip.
Or you can believe that I thought GWB printed up the banner and actually strung it up himself. However, to believe that you would have to ignore his illiteracy and complete lack of courage to climb up high enough to secure the banner.
What is sad is that while most of the actual party has abandoned GW, the little people still refuse to admit what a huge mistake he was.

Where do you get this crap?
Mexican-American War- Mexico attacked without provocation
Spanish American War- Spanish mine sink USS Maine
WWI- Lusitania sinking
WWII- Pearl Harbor was a complete unprovoked surprise attack
Vietnam- Gulf of Tonkin
Grenada Invasion- to protect students
Iraq- Weapons of mass destruction that threaten our security
Not a complete list. I do not think the government lies maliciously, usually, it lies believing that the American public does not know what is best for itself.
We claim to fight for freedom and democracy, but it is almost always to expand and protect capitalist interests. We knew the holocaust was happening, did we enter the war?
We know genocide is almost constantly occurring somewhere in the world, but do we intervene? Rarely. However, when our commercial interests are threatened the military or the CIA is rather quick to get involved.
Its not a crazy idea, just simple truths.

Explain the suit. The former president was seriously playing the "cowboy" role; combine that with the ridiculousness of the situation (banner included) and that is why people will always make fun of "Mission Accomplished".

The banner was suggested by the crew of the aircraft carrier where he landed and gave that speech. It's been stated and ignored over and over that the banner was for that ship specifically whose mission was accomplished. A Bush aide signed off on it. The banner has since removed from the ship and has since been wrapped around dead horses and beaten routinely by people with nothing to add to a discussion.

I just assumed that the flight suit had some purpose when you're in a fighter jet because I've never seen anybody get off of one wearing a business suit. Show me a picture of one and I bet it will seem more ridiculous.

Then it was his responsibility... Jesus fucking christ.
If someone who works for you fucks up, you're responsible because you're responsible for your workers. Even if he didn't know about it it's his responsibility to make sure that he knows about everything his aides approve of because when they approve something they do it on behalf of the him. I understand responsibility wasn't well practice during the Bush administration but it doesn't make it a non existing thing.

Wrong. Bush was not responsible for anything. You are to believe that an administration that manipulated the media through out its term somehow was taken advantage of by the crew of an aircraft carrier.
Had Bush been aware of the banner, he would have demanded that it be taken down, that the mission is not accomplished until every Iraqi shares in the freedom and democracy that we promised to bring.
Again, it's an embarrassing goof. It will be brought up forever, get used to it. If you slip and fall and no one sees, you get away with it. If you slip while holding a major news conference you will never live it down.

It’s an addiction, you see, this Bush-bashing. Kind of a giddy, emotional masturbation that once you start you just can’t stop. Have empathy for the suffering. Perhaps one day they’ll be a Bush Administration Memorial Museum in Wash DC, then the healing can start. All the Bush-bashers can march the Mall, and laugh and jeer and cry, and proclaim “Never Again!”. In the meantime, be understanding: it’s all they know.

You don't get it. The banner did not say "Mission accomplished for this ship." GW did not say the banner the represents this ship only.
So, the message sent was that the general mission was accomplished.
Sorry, if you do not understand that.
The actual meaning of the banner is secondary to the perceived message.
If bush's aide should have know the message that the banner would send, and have either asked for it to changed, or not flown at all. Otherwise, he did his job poorly, which AGAIN reflects on the president. UNDERSTAND????????????????????????????????????????
But yes, this is a minor issue compared to lying us into a war and either creating or doing nothing to stop our current economic slump.
And, I noticed how after calling my claim that we have been lied into many wars crap, which I then supported. You seem to have ignored it.

Post something from a legitimate site that refutes anything I have said. Of course, you can't and won't. The government knew that we were forcing Japan into a corner and it would be forced to react. Not some grand conspiracy concocted by aliens, simple strategy. That is what happened in most of the other wars. We instigated an action, than claimed we were innocent victims.

“Without any evidence, the former CIA-asset, a Saudi-Arabian Osama bin Laden was claimed to be the mastermind behind the 9/11 strikes at the WTC and the Pentagon. Such a complex operation, if actually executed which it was not, in this case would be much beyond the capabilities of anything in Afghanistan. Only some top ten intelligence services in the world could hope to be successful in such an operation involving forgery, infiltration, living "underground" in a foreign non-Muslim country, coordination of moves, illegal arms, hi-quality flight training, accurate aircraft navigation in no-visibility conditions and so on. Perhaps even less, because the friends of the US (at that time, still most of the world) would also have been interested in stopping the attack."

I don't want to spend my time gathering information that is readily available. If you choose to not look, fine. But, do not place the burden of enlightening you on my shoulders.
Did we pressure Japan into war?
Was the Lusitania carrying munitions?
Was the USS Maine sunk by a boiler instead of a Spanish mine?
Was the Gulf of Tonkin misreported?
Are there questions about whether North Korea was really the "aggressor?"
Was GWB set on war in Iraq at all costs, WMDs or not?

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea may fire a long-range ballistic missile toward Hawaii in early July, a Japanese news report said Thursday, as Russia and China urged the regime to return to international disarmament talks on its rogue nuclear program.
The missile, believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles (6,500 kilometers), would be launched from North Korea's Dongchang-ni site on the northwestern coast, said the Yomiuri daily, Japan's top-selling newspaper. It cited an analysis by the Japanese Defense Ministry and intelligence gathered by U.S. reconnaissance satellites.
The missile launch could come between July 4 and 8, the paper said.
While the newspaper speculated the Taepodong-2 could fly over Japan and toward Hawaii, it said the missile would not be able to hit Hawaii's main islands, which are about 4,500 miles (7,200 kilometers) from the Korean peninsula.

I'm slightly more worried than I was when Mohamar Gaddafi drew his "line in the sand". And he ended up getting beat up by some guy named Chad.
