yeah, i don't think this board is accessible at all to new posters. I made the point before but its a "ron & fez fan fansite" instead of a "ron & fez fansite". i'm not saying that it should be one way or another but its how i see things currently. And I can't think of too many big 2009 posters bringing a fresh perspective. Its a lot of old people talking about how "the site isn't what it used to be"

Thought: I don't blame Gvac for the issues this board has, but I think everyone is trying to find a scapegoat.

But here's something I thought of. Gvac's made a point of attacking the listening threads. Now, I don't post a lot in the listening threads. I couldn't care either way about them. But if someone doesn't like a thread, why do you go out of your way to point out how "bad" the threads are?

The threads don't destroy the quality of the show. They are there for people's enjoyment while the show is going on. If you don't like them, don't read and/or post in them, and don't belittle the people that DO post in them!

This place isn't "dead". When R&F were at JFK, I think the board had a lot less activity then, but that could be rose-colored glasses. I'm not sure.

I don't think the end of FBA is what caused the negativity here to skyrocket. Quite honestly, I think it's Wackbag's overmodding that caused people to come over here and start shit. But that's my OPINION, not fact.

RF.net's "Summer Vacation" - the board is closed while the boys are on summer vacation.

Mods don't ban, but the threats to ban get worthless. Be more liberal with the three point infractions and stop idiots from posting for a while.

I have no complaints about the board. The board changes, it always will. Old people will leave, new people will start posting, there's really nothing we can do about it. I dont really see increased negativity. Maybe some people are more vocal about their uninformed opinions, but they have that right and they can become the butt of the joke. As far as FBA goes, the majority of the posters who continue to post here from that board are great contributors, they are what rf.net needs. The shitty FBA posters stopped posting soon after they signed up here when they realized they didnt fit in.

And finally, there isn't a person on this board cooler to new posters than Gvac. For Gaz and or Ten to act as if recent posters can't contribute is insane. I can rattle off plenty of great new posters here if needed, the only problem is my favs SURELY won't line up with yours.

some of you know me, others don't. Some don't like me, others do.

I joined up in 2001 and this board has been a great source of entertainment, amusement, and aggrivation.
Of course it has it's ups and downs. Any place you go to and spend alot of time at will have those moments. I appreciate that I got to know a few people from here outside of the board. And those who I only see at the "board functions" are just as cool.

Do I think this board needs to be shut down?. No.
But again, as it has been stated before, if you don't like the board AS A WHOLE then move on and don't stand around bitching about it. Most of you are grown men and women, and yet you bicker like little children who aren't getting their way.

There are some areas of this board I don't like or don't know about, so I don't go to them. I only go to where I like. I don't even have XM so I haven't heard R&F in over a year.

Jon's responsibilities are the technical content of the board. Hottub gives a shit.

It's a big board. A lot of mods are needed. However, I think some mods overstep their bounds just because they don't like certain posters.

Being a mod is a thankless job, unfortunately, because you have to go through threads you don't want to read, deal with immature posters, etc.

Admin matty, hottub isn't an admin. And I'd easily argue that some MODS care too much and have no history with the board when they get the gig. Ulterior motives are all over when it comes to the power struggles of this board and it's link to the show. I don't really need to get INTO the politics for you to understand there is a constant play ongoing here. We simply DO NOT need this many mods, that's easily noted.

Bottom line, MIKEYBOY is the ONLY Admin who is ever fucking here Matty, and tech is not his strength. I give him a lot of credit for being the seemingly one guy who gives a fuck, but he truly needs to get a crew who can work with him and not be afraid to give harsh feedback as well. i don't know of ... or really care about the issues between matty and gvac.
but i thought the beginning of this thread went pretty well.. there were a couple of good ideas and thoughts shared.

i won't pretend to know anything about how to make a message board better. these days it seems like life without Any board is a healthier life choice, to be honest. but i don't understand the negativity. and while i am trying to spend less time on the internet... i can't deny that the 'uprisings' of late have gotten to me a little.

this place isn't what it used to be. of course not... everything in the world exists in cycles.
we either react and adjust or we break away.
