View Full Version : How Often Do You Change Your Sheets?
I know most of you are vile, filthy, disgusting savages, perfectly content to wear the same clothes for weeks on end and rarely bathe.
I just want to know how infested with bacteria your beds are.
I change my bed sheets once a week, without fail.

Once a week...heathens!
True story.
A few weeks back my Mom was talking with people at work about laundry. And this exact topic was brought up. One of my Mom's co-workers turned to her and said..."Oh I haven't changed my sheets since Thanksgiving. They don't smell or anything." :wallbash:
It's true, there are really animals just like that in the world.

was gonna say after sex but going by that rule my sheets would be filthy as hell by now... so about once a week or every other week is my schedule. I sometimes change the pillow cases in between.

That person should be wrapped up in the sheets and both should be ceremoniously burned.

I remember seeing a t.v. show a few years ago that had blown up images of little creatures that live on our bedsheets and eat our dead skin. Terrifying. They looked like cousins of the creature from Aliens crossed with flies. yes, they are microscopic, can't harm us, and are part of the natural order but I have washed sheets once a week ever since to avoid letting those little monsters survive.

My wife and I just look at our sheets closely on Friday, they were nasty. All stained up from bodily fluids and whatever else has been going on atop them.
Last time we changed them was about April 15th.

here's another question about sheets;
after a relationship ends, do you buy all new sheets, and throw out your old ones?
reason I'm asking is because this thread reminded me of a women I dated a few years ago, who said it was odd that I didn't get rid of my old sheets when I broke up with my last girlfriend.

I know women who think that way too. I even know a woman who won't sit on the same seat as another woman who had a relationship with a guy. There is all kinds of territorial stuff going on in a lot of womens heads that guys do not pick up on. Yet, they try on bras in the dressing room without a problem with it, even though another women probably had that same bra against her naked breasts.

what does thread count mean exactly?
what spider said... usually the higher the count the better the fabric. It will feel softer and also last you longer...
less thread count has more space between the threads, so it may feel more rough on the skin (and skin particles can get easier stuck between this microscopic gaps) and it is more prone to get out of shape in washer and dryer.

I turn the bottom ones inside out and slide the corners under the outside in top corners after folding it in half. That way you can pick it up with your hands in both corners and have a straight line for the side part of the sheet. Then you can fold it as any normal sheet.

at least once a week. sometimes if I am having a special lady guest over, I will change them on friday instead of the usual sunday. I never go more then a week, unless I was away for work.
They are the common dust mite, and do indeed live off of our dead skin. What we call "dust" is actually their feces and decomposed bodies.

Washing and drying your sheets at high temps is enough to kill them, but you'll never be completely rid of them.
All you can do is limit how many there are by changing and washing your bedding frequently.

You're like Howard Hughes, but without the brilliance, success, money, handsomeness and beautiful women.

I think this is what Mojo imagines is on our feet, that's why he can't handle people with flip flops coming in his house.

Clean sheets are a must. Pillow cases too. I gots the asthma. My Dr seems to think there is a link between dust mites and asthma attacks.

if you are allergic to dust and dander then surely... just get some allergy covers for the pillows... they go under the regular case

I used to change them once a week because my husband makes them so gross, since he has started sleeping in his recliner I only change them every 2 weeks.
