View Full Version : Do You Use The Tags Feature?

When creating a thread - do you?

I'm not talking about the tags-as-jokes we see in the listening threads. I'm talking about actually using them as a useful tool to find similar threads on a subject.

For example, if you see any threads that I've created about a movie, the tag "movies (http://www.ronfez.net/forums/tags.php?tag=movies)" is there.

I just think that it's a cool feature that's been underutilized. So get on it!

Much like my posts and threads, my tags make no sense.

I use them based on the subject of my thread. Occasionally I'll make a joke but they're usually pretty vanilla.

I never SEARCH by tags though. I always search threads or posts for what I'm looking for.

I forgot all about them actually

Nope, never use them.

I am guessing the tag search might work better than the keyword search, although that isn't saying much. However, I didn't even realize you could search by tags until relatively recently - and I am guessing the same could be said for many menbers.

I tag and never search them

You can place 5 tags on any thread you start.

There's a simple motto I use - "Tags are for fags."

I have no idea how to post a tag in a thread I start. If I could have I would.

Go to the bottom of the thread. Lower right it says something like edit tags. Click and tag

Don't use them

I guess I should use them. They seem like a quick way to find a related thread. I normally search or ask Sailor, though.

For now I will vote NO, but I will try to use them more.

Also we catch all kinds of shit in the Listening Thread for not tagging enough. But I am willing to bet most of you tools don't use them when we do.

I occasionally get e-mails from people asking what song opened a certain show. I go directly to the listening thread for that day and pull the song from the tags.

You only catch shit from the vocal minority that actually uses the tags. I would wager that most users don't care one way or another.

Since the uproar of "open tagging" being removed thanks to a few bad apples, I don't think a lot of people have been paying attention.

At the time, we got rid of them because people were using them to anonymously peronally attack other users. Of course, we figured out how to tell who tagged what so it isn't anonymous anymore. We've been considering giving everyone tagging rights back, but do people even care?

Furtherman should tag 'mikeyboy is queer'. See if you care then.

This may be a stupid question, but could someone answer me this?

How is tagging a waste of resources? If it is a waste of resources, what other cool gadgets could this site have in its place?

I was just fishing for a sentence enhancer to the poll question.

And contemplating a squeaky clean vag.

There is no known explanation of how they are used or even where to go to apply to them (even though it must be known and some people utilize them). So, no. I do not (and cannot) use Tags.
