I know someone that is in a polyamorous relationship and they went to a lawyer and had themselves incorporated so everyone is protected (in case one gets sick, or dies etc.).
And many countries allow gay marriage: Canada, Belgium, Denmark, , France, the Netherlands, Sweden, South Africa, the UK, and there are a few others I can't recall.

ad nauseum.
but to reiterate the point made by Arch... what is the need for a piece of legality when you already love the person? do you need that paper to validate your relationship?
except... in my mind this applies to both straight and gay couples.
in todays society the only logical reason to get married is for benefits/taxes. otherwise it's just a social step taken to show the world your love for another person. i have no idea why this step should only be available to man-woman couples. seems silly that it's such a big issue.

Marriage has never meant "a man and a woman." Marriages discussed in the bible were often polygamist, and were never for love or raising children. They were for merging families or for dealmaking. Should we go back to arranged marriages? Enough with this always a man and a woman bullshit.

By making certain people call their union a different word from the other unions, you're treating them differently.

The simple fact is that we do not live in a "majority rules society" where the rights of the minority are subject to the whims of the majority. We don't vote on rights. We didn't accept "tradition" as a reason to keep blacks subjugated, or to keep women from voting. Yet, now we "vote" on gay rights? It's patently ridiculous, and the arguments against it are so nonsensical that it is pointless to debate. The courts will eventually settle this, like they did other civil rights issues, and people will be forced to accept it, like they always have previously.
Sorry, Ron is wrong about this one. Gay people (eww) shouldn't have to settle for a "union", when others have rights to the word marriage.

I think Ron's intention is to get Fez to flesh out his argument fully, and to really make a strong case. I wouldn't doubt Ron supports gay marriage, but if Fez is going to keep talking about it, he's going to have to really learn how to defend the idea much much much better than he has. When he gets faced by rednecks and doesn't know how to defend it, it's not good.
Also, Fez should have not have to talk about polygamy or incest or beastiality. When blacks were trying to get equal rights no one made them argue for other minorities. You argue for what matters to YOU.
If the leaders of our country said today, "Same sex unions will now be EQUAL to marriage, and shall enjoy the same rights and responsibilities as heterosexual marriages in ALL ways but one: they will be called unions and not marriages." Would the gays accept?

i feel like naming gay marriage as "civil union" is something akin to the separate but equal idea. just giving it a different name grants it a second class citizen status. denying gays the right to marriage is a denial of civil rights, imho.
edit: im wondering.. by calling it a civil union and not being able to refer to it as marriage, does it force a person "out"? for example, someone saying he/she was civilly unioned as opposed to married

Separate but equal?? We're not putting them in communities or making them ride different buses. We're saying they dont qualify for ONE type of legal terminology.
I hopefully will never be married...but as a single person, can I fight to have the same rights as a married couple? Of course not! I dont fit the definition. Plain and simple.

Correct, but you can't withhold a benefit from one person based upon their skin color, gender, age, or sexual orientation. That's the issue that is being challenged.

We call it toast, they call it toes.
(I really hope someone was listening to O&A this morning)
I did, one of their worst shows...too much porn talk, too visual. They may have lost some to Stern today; I found myself going back and forth to Fox news.

It was actually supposed to tie in with DLM. George was supposed to discover that someone was bringing the dead back to life and then come across Ned. But they cancelled DLM before that could happen.

brian scalibrine needs to understand that people are entitled to have their opinion and express it. chuckie finster is gonna be in hell for years and he is only embarrassed that fez is revealing on the show how much of a bad decision it is. ron howard has no reason to be upset, he decided to have the kids and accept the responsiblity of caring for them, accept the criticism too. instead, he wants ginger pity. poor opie. s my d esd. fez fez did nothing wrong.

It's OK for Dave to agree with Ron, but when Fez does it, he gives him shit. I understand his point, but they didn't have a lot of disagreement in the past. It just didn't matter because when Fez would tag Ron's opinion he would throw in funny jokes and enthusiasm, much like Dave today.

If you're watching a movie/tv show about a cop going undercover, 9 times of out 10 the story will be about how the cop learns to respect/worship, etc. his target, and how he fights that respect to take the guy down.

I think when Sylvester Stallone decided to replace her with Sandra Bullock in "Demolition Man" people started getting turned off of her. She has been in a few gay and lesbian movies since the early 90's.
The last thing I really knew about her was her clothing line that seems to have shut down and that she is a painter. She did write and direct a movie last year called "The Poker House" http://web.mac.com/homeyplease/Lori_Petty/the_Poker_House.html
