So, i just got back from the movies.

Saw "Drag Me to Hell"

While we are waiting for the movie to start, a family walks in with thier 5ish year old daughter.

Apart from the title alone, this movie is clearly not intended for young eyes.

I look at my chick, and we're both like "Who brings a 5 year old girl to this movie?"

So, who does this?

You guys sure seem like the right bunch to judge other people's parenting. My kid has been watching horror movies since he was a little boy. He completely
knows the difference between fiction and real life. He does not believe in monsters or ghosts, and if he has a nightmare it is always about being lost and alone somewhere or things of that nature. He doesn't have any violent tendancies and he actually is one of the better behaved kids in his class. We would not take him to see Drag me to Hell, but he'd probably be bored by it. His mother and I always recognized the he was mature and able to process mature games and movies, and if we did our research and found there wasn't sexual content or gore, we trust him to process it appropriately. He can completely handle shit that would give me nightmares. Every kid is different, and I can't raise mine the way you raise yours and vice versa. How arrogant to judge someone's parenting based on seeing them at a theatre.

i had the same thing happen this weekend but wacthing Terminator. the family was shocked when the 6 year old boy they brought to the movie started crying when the heavy violence started happening. :thumbdown:

If you went to see the movie at 7pm I would vote white people.

If you went to see the movie at 11pm Id vote black people.

Personally I dont see anything wrong with letting kids watch horror movies but I do think its in bad taste to bring to the theater to watch it. Violent movies can be ok, for example I remember my dad taking me to see The Running Man as a kid and I loved it. But it depends on the gore and how scary a movie is. Personally I couldnt see taking a child to see Take me to Hell in the theater.

Anyway i worked at an independently run video store a few years back and if i had to make a generalization from that job, most parents do not give a fuck what they show their kids. Not even a thought in their head

but there was this pakistanian man who worked at the gas station that would ask to make sure the film had no nudity in it whatsoever for his sons. The movie could have any obscene amount of deplorable violence and he wouldn't care, just no nudity. I would even say "this movie is really really graphically violent" and he'd go "its ok my friend..as long as theirs no nudity"

then his son, who was about 12, started coming into the store by himself and he was such a fucking creep. Any dvd that looked like it had any slight chance of showing a nipple he would rent. If there was a girl on the cover, he'd rent it. And I'd rent him anything..i didnt give a fuck but he was just so nervous whenever he would hand me a movie like "Mullholland Drive". I knew what he was doing and i didn't care. I even let him rent "show girls"...let the kid jerk off, its good for him. get the poison out of him so he doesn't join the talaban one day
