The signature song being held back to the last song of the encore...are there any rubes who think it's not going to be played?
Playing songs is extremely hack. At every single concert it's just song after song after song after song. Enough already!
Bands with "characters" that they take way too fucking seriously....

The entire concept of the encore is ridiculous now. There's ALWAYS going to be at least one. If the crowd doesn't cheer loud enough, the band isn't going to forgo the encore. It's the end of the show. Don't make everyone wait around forever while the dude next to you thinks his special type of howl is what is going to convince the band to keep playing.

I've been to a few shows with no encore and it was awesome.

The Mars Volta.
And I don't think NIN did an encore the other night.
And Jane's Addiction played "Mountain Song" and "Been Caught Stealing" back to back in the middle of their set.

The mars volta encore for me would be if they cancelled the show.

Your encore for me would be if you cancelled.
I'm not very good at this.

The morons who fight their way to the front, yet know absolutely none of the band's material except for the big hit. They're on their phones or babbling to each other through the entire set yet have to let everybody know how much they love that one song.

Talking at all especially if it is political.

3.2 seconds.
That's the amount of time you have before you spot someone with floor seats.... on their phone.... searching and waving frantically to their friend up in the nosebleeds.
"Nobody rocks harder than ____!"

There's usually some jackass yelling "FREE BIRD!" ... it was funny 15 years ago, not anymore.

Any local reference by the band, especially if they change the words of the song to include one.

Come on! If you're talking 15 years ago, it would have only been funny if you yelled "Stairway to Freebird".

STYX hit all the low points when I saw them back in the day.
Tommy Shaw asked the crowd to make some noise, and then acted disappointed with our energy level and said "last night.... we were in NEWWWWW JERRRSEY and they were twice as loud as YOU guys!"
He also said "How ya doin' Nassau War Veterans Memorial Coliseum Uniondale?!!?!!" which is, to this day, the single most awkwardly insincere greeting I've ever heard.

Back in 97 I went to see Metallica and their load tour.
Their last tune was...yep Enter Sandman. They were 4 measures into the song and all of sudden all of the lights and sound went out in the stadium.
They came back 5 minutes later on a bullhorn and said that there were some major technical difficulties so they were gonna have to rock out "old school" With their own amps, lights using generators.
When they came back on the sound was louder, better and the lighting seemed fantastic.
Fucking rubes next to me kept saying "See man, they don't need all of that fancy shit! They rock better when its back to the old school!"
Great concert up until that point. Pretty hack.

What's worse is when they wear a sports jersey from the town they are playing in.
I saw some Garth Brooks concert video (don't ask) where he's in Pittsburgh on tour. During the show he has a Penguins jersey on.
Couple of month later someone tells me they saw him at the Nassau Coliseum. So I said how "great" was it when he had the Islanders jersey on. Sure enough I nailed it just from seeing the video.

I saw this singer/songwriter named Jolie Holland at a really small place in philly called the Tin Angel, shes tuning her guitar and saying "this next song is about a guy I knew that ran away to russia..." and a guy sitting 10 feet in front of her does a full on "WOOOOOOOOOO" Some people have no idea whats appropriate.

According to Phil Anselmo from Pantera, everybody knows Minneapolis has the best weed.

We were told at a concert once that Camden New Jersey was the best stop on the tour so far and we rock harder then anyone.

Wow that reminds me. I saw Jethro Tull Roots to Branches tour (95).
He was in a wheelchair due to a soccer accident.
A beachball got hit up on stage. He got out of his chair to kick it off stage. While almost busting his ass.
