I know there's not a lot of interest in college baseball on this board but there were quite a few replies in the FSU/Oh St thread so I figured I'd start one just for the CWS.

The Super Regionals have been great so far.

Firstly my LSU Tigers advance and while the SEC didn't get the 4 teams into the CWS that would've been possible it's nice to see 2 virgins make it to Omaha.

If TCU can pull off the upset there will be 3 teams new to Omaha. That has happened as far as I can remember, at least since I've been watching college baseball.

Not only are the new teams good for the sport but it'll make it a little easier for the verteran teams.

I think LSU jumps all over UVA in the first round game.

Big win for Arkansas too bad LSU sends them to the loser's bracket tonight.

I was hoping USM could pull off the upset last night but they let it get away.

They walked in Texas' last 3 runs.

Gave up way too many 2 out hits that drove in runs.

LSU with another big win.

I really wasn't sure who I wanted them to face in the championship round but I do think that Texas might be the more vulnerable team.

I don't think their hitters can keep up with LSU's hitters.

If LSU starters continue to pitch the way they have in the post season and the hitting is even half as good as it has been they should be able to win it in 2.

I hate that the championshio round games are on a week night.

ESPN has been a little sloppy this year. There were minor things over the past week but last night they had a graphic representing the CWS history of both Texas and ASU and they had it mislabeled w/ Texas having ASU's stats and vice versa.

Again kinda minor but it shouldn't happen on Day 8 of coverage espcially involving teams they seen many time prior.

Great game last night.

So many of my friends from Louisiana made the trip to this game.

When you can steal a game after your #1 pitcher is mostly ineffective and the heart of your order struggles then you've gotta feel good about the next game.

Hopefully LSU can make this one a blowout so I don't have to get heartburn again.

Obvioulsy very disappointed w/ last night's result but hopefully LSU goes can get a great game out of Renaudo and the offense does what it's been doing in ever game except the last 2.

3-4-5 batters have got to produce tonight.

Of course they can but do you think Iona and Marist can afford as many as them ?

So what happens if you play a game and for some reason Marist breaks all of their bats ?

Do they then borrow LSU's ?

It's a finance issue and since many schools barely fund baseball as it is you can't expect them to start paying for bats.

A division THREE conference that includes teams in NJ went all to wood bats. Im pretty fuckin sure it could be done

and if marist breaks ALL ITS BATS in 1 game, they should be kicked out

I'm not saying they break them all in the 1st game but they could by sometime in the season.

How many games is that DIII conference playing ?

I'm sure it's nowhere near the 70 that teams that make the finals play.

I also don't have a problem w/ the aluminum bats because all teams are using them.

It's not like you have better teams batting w/ them and worse ones using wood.

Since everything is even then the best team still wins.

Either the better hitting team beats the poorer pitching or the better pitching beats the poorer offense.

Don't fix what's not broken is the way I look at it.

70 games also generates ALOT more money to replace the bats. I think the D 3 teams play like 35-40 if they get all the way through. But they could figure it out, wood bats arent as expensive as they used to be.

Yeah but you also have to remember that baseball isn't generating money at many schools.

Sure it's a money maker at LSU and maybe even at Texas but in most schools it's a burden and it's funds go into the general atheltic pool.

I'd rather see them correct the issue of scholarships in baseball before anything else.

13.7 per year ?

I think crew gets 14.

Plus this year they cut the number of graduate assistants from 2 to 1.

For what reason ?

Great game last night.

I was texting college friends the whole time and some were giving up when Texas came back to tie it but I had faith.

I will say that after 3 consecutive days of Herscheiser ( sp ?? ), Patrick and Ventura it was getting old.

Every time they talked about Mitchell and how fast he was it just seemed so racist. Like just because he's black he's automatically fast.

Now I know he is fast but it just came off wierd.

theres just too many other sports options out there to even begin to care about college baseball

How about LSU right fielder, Jared Mitchell. Mitchell was not only the CWS Most Outstanding Player but also has a 2007 BCS national championship ring as a football player. That's Jim Brown (Syracuse) cool.

Obvioulsy to each his own.

I personally despise college basketball and the redundant coverage that goes on for like a month.

A lot of that has to do w/ Dick Vitale though.

I'd rather watch my own colonoscopy than a minute of NBA basketball.

LSU Baseball is my Mets/Yankees to fans of those teams.

Now that they've won I can't be greedy and ask for wins from any of my other favorite teams although Iwould be happy with them.

Yeah he was huge in that series.

He coaxed an 0-2 count into the walk ( while also helping the umpie keep track of the count ) and ended up being the go ahead run in Game 3.

I didn't get to see any of his regular season games but his tournament at bats that I saw were huge.

He's got tremendous upside so I hope he's able to make it at the next levels.

So many guys look like they will and it just doesn't happen.
