View Full Version : Stern Back To Terrestrial Radio?

Bay area media commentator Rich Lieberman says the big rumor is that Howard Stern (left) is mulling the real possibility of returning to broadcast radio, as his $500 million deal with Sirius XM Satellite Radio is nearing expiration and "the novelty of satellite radio has waned considerably." There are those who wonder where the "King Of All Media" will wind up, or whether he even wants to get back to the radio business. Stern still has a loyal fan base and millions of listeners, says Lieberman, from the streets of Manhattan to the San Francisco. If Stern were to re-emerge on commercial radio, he predicts a major syndicator will work the deal, such as Talk Radio Network or Dial-Global. Lieberman expects to hear Stern back on broadcast radio sometime in 2010, reports Radio-Online.com. Before leaving for satellite radio in 2006, Stern was heard locally on WJFK.....

Doubt it happens. Why leave a radio company that the FCC can't touch to go back to where the FCC can fine him truck loads of cash?

yeah, but he also said that he likes being able to speak freely on satellite
he wouldnt be able to curse on regular radio
to think that he could save radio is arguable
but to think that he would change it is laughable

He's a liar and a bullshit artist.
He can say whatever he wants now because he's never held accountable for anything. Sure, he might go back to terrestrial radio after trashing it for 2 years while still on it and a long time on satellite.
Eh, it'll still be the same lame, stale show. He loves playing the victim role so this might be great for him though.

He has 500 million he got from Sirius. Can't he buy a radio station, get his own sponsors then do the show he wants without worry? He still wouldn't be able to curse but then he wouldn't need to worry about corporate pressure to be PC.

Nice grammar: " Stern still has a loyal fan base and millions of listeners, says Lieberman, from the streets of Manhattan to the San Francisco. " Or is San Francisco like Ohio State, where people have to put in "the"?

It's his next and maybe last chance at another huge payday, but I just can't see any sponsor willing to pay what it would take to fund this guy.

I have a suggestion:
100 Shock and Jock
101 Ted's satellite channel of funny shit emporium
Or they can just change the channels to the complaining Jew channels but that would be redundant.

I think that old, tired out, hypocritical gasbag would be in for a real surprise if he ever decided to go back to regular/terrestrial radio.
I doubt he gets 25% of the listeners he had when he left
NO ONE talks about Stern anymore outside of forums like this. NO ONE. That King of All Media self-imposed title is more of a joke now, wait'll he tries a "comeback" and no one cares

Last anyone saw of him was some friend of Doug (so he claims) that spotted him in a restaurant looking at a menu. This was like a year ago or so.
I thought I had the pic but I only have the Photoshop I did of it.

I actually enjoyed the guy the very few times he was on R&F. He was very well spoken and could debate Ron pretty well.

Exactly. The only reason this is coming up again is because Howard hinted at the deals he's been offered to go back.

How ironic would it be if that happened and Stern succeeded on Citadel doing what O&A couldn't and in the process making that worthless Citadel stock worth a whole lot?

Bubba's already making it work for himself with seven markets and climbing. Hell, Ron and Fez would've continued to do great on FM had Free FM not come to an end.

Who cares? I was so happy when O&A moved away from all those guys that were getting way too interested in their own on air time instead of stuff for the show.

Yawn.
When his contract runs out he'll work some deal with Sirius where he'll work a couple of days a week and they'll run his best-of goodness the rest of the time.
Then he can spend more time in the Hamptons where people will tell him what a genius he was...
