The problem with the online sites is that you can send messages to people who haven't paid, they have accounts but that does not mean they can write you back. eHarmony has that weird match thing where they decide who you can talk to. The worst part is going out on a date and coming back, checking your profile, and seeing the "This person has closed the match".

My worst experience with that site was with some girl who had pictures but they turned out to be many years old. She said she was a fitness person and such, her shots showed a decent looking athletic girl. Also said that sex was quite important to her, which seemed decent to me. When i went to meet her she was so fat that she waddled when she walked (not kidding). We went out to eat and she ordered the biggest item on the menu, a stuffed steak, and then when the dessert menu came she ordered fried ice cream.

She made me pay the bill so I figured I might as well get her shirt off as some sort of repayment. Once it happened even I couldn't deal with the mess and got out of there.

If anything online dating does provide some good stories.

What kinda message do you send them? I can tell ya I was turned off by cheesy messages... and some that told their entire life story... and some that said not much at all yet with lots of spelling errors and then their profile did not even have any more info in it.
If you keep the message short, at least say a little bit about you in your profile... but if your profile is pretty much blank and without pictures... you gotta tell a little bit about you in the message so she knows if you are even remotely a match.

Just like with all other venues of finding someone to pair off with I look at online with the same expectations. For me, using those pay sites didn't work whatsoever and were a pain in the ass to maintain and visit. I've used two free sites in the past that work pretty well and are fun too- PlentyofFish.com where I met my JerseyRich :happy: and OkCupid.com where I met and dated some guys for a bit. I even met some friends through this site who I didn't mesh well with in a romantic capacity, but in a good friend capacity (one friend of mine is now married through someone else he met through the same site!).

I think it works the same way it would meeting someone outside of an online dating site. You meet each other and it either works or it doesn't. I know some people who didn't like it at all and some people who are now married through meeting online (including my mother :thumbup:). Its definitely worth trying out. I'm so very happy I did!
