View Full Version : Why raisins in the oatmeal cookie?

Seriously, why must people ruin oatmeal cookies with raisins? I don't want dried fruit in my cookie. Maybe a chocolate chip or a chopped nut, but raisins just ruin a perfectly good oatmeal cookie.

Can anyone even justify this shit?

I don't mind it. In fact I prefer it over a chocolate chip and definitely over a chopped nut. Adds some moisture and texture to the cookie

I wholeheartedly agree.

The only place a raisin should be is in the sun.

Raisins are fantastic, they are nature's treat. Any idiot who says otherwise should have his dreams deferred.

1. I have no dreams, just waiting to die.

2. The tomato is nature's treat.

I think I have a negative reaction to raisins b/c when I was a kid I used to see them constantly get stuck to the bottom of my mother's slippers (I guess my brother and I were slobs). I'll always associate raisins with that. And they're dried out fruit.

Ok either I don't get your reference for #1 or I should have gone with a Hansberry joke instead of Langston Hughes.

Oh and you sir are an animal if you don't like the natural sweetness that is a dry grape. Next you're gonna say dried apple rings suck, or dried pineapple is disgusting. Stop attacking my study foods!!!!!!!:furious:

Raisins give the cookie a nice texture and a nice moisture. Oatmeal cookies without raisins just wouldn't be the same. I have had them with chocolate chips but those weren't as good as ones with raisins.

raisins in oatmeal cookies are delicious. frm your opener i suspect that sombody cooked the shit out of your cookies making the raisins dry and crunchy- the raisin is supposed to remain large and juicy- next time i recommend using a golden raisin- it may change your mind.

I'm sick of the derogatory comments towards raisins anymore. They add to everything.

-Cookies
-Bagels
-Corn Flakes
-Chunkys

the only thing that raisins are better in that an oatmeal cookie is rice pudding.

I like raisins just fine in an oatmeal cookie, because it's almost expected. What I hate is raisins in other cookies. At first glance, I think they are chocolate chips. One bite and... WTF kind of chocolate chips are these?

BTW... Absolute WORST use of a raisin is in those God forsaken Chunky bars.
