The trolls aren't out as in force right now as they have been in the past. There's also not as much attention from the show focused on the board right now. That probably says a lot about the motivations of the trolls.

The study of comparative religions shows that the major faiths have dodged the bullet (for the most part) - of declaring that individuals are "all good" or "all bad." For good reason, too - when they get into that, it devolves quickly into a witch hunt and extreme social disorder, torture, martyrdom, etc..

A possible exception to this rule is Catholicism, with its official "Saints" designation. In every other respect, though, that faith adopts the generic Christian outlook of "original sin" and Jesus' implicit admonition of "let the first among you without sin cast the first stone." Buddhism and Hinduism embrace Karma and reincarnation in various permutations, and therefore do not take traditional Western notions of "sin" into account. What we call sin, some Buddhists would call "mischief," or "lack of compassion for sentient beings." Islam, as an Abrahamic tradition, defines "good" and "evil" according to the imputed will of God, and I doubt you were suggesting we judge Ron and Fez listeners according to Sharia law. Secular Humanism is not absolute and does not have "norms" per se, so it's not useful as a yardstick.

Psychological research does show that there are variations in personality traits according to liberal and conservative political orientations. I suspect that the same is true for Ron and Fez listeners. Ron and Fez have a distinctive, ball-busting brand of humor. Fez is unique in media culture in that he has mental problems and shares them openly. Certain personalities are going to be more attracted to the show. I'm about Ron's age, and I can tell you that demographics also matter. He talks a lot about events and personalities I grew up with. Demographics are part of the package, but an incomplete part. Just as some young people love "classic rock," there are many young people who will find something to like in Ron and Fez.

It might make more sense to ask how listeners would score on average on a "Big Five" personality Scale. I speculate they have fairly high Openness to Experience; average to lower than average Conscientiousness; low levels of Extraversion (as they have adopted and rely heavily on parasocial "buddays"); lower than average level of Agreeableness (ball busters); and higher than average levels of Neuroticism.

I recently saw THE NINTH GATE" as well as "HOFFA" and was wondering how you would rate those. The first had false advertising on the DVD cover - it purported to show the raising of the devil himself. However, just like OMEN III, it ended with a whimper. Roman Polanski directed NINTH GATE, though, so the ending was artful compared to OMEN III. I found HOFFA interesting because - as far as I know, it's Nicholson's only biopic and the only time he ever portrayed a real historical figure. I thought he did a great job in a rather grim movie. The ending was bogus, though - I've seen pictures of the restaurant and parking lot where Hoffa was last seen, and it didn't resemble the remote roadhouse diner shown in the movie at all - it was in a busy suburban area of Detroit.
