here is a bit of common sense from the article i linked..

My point is that the ad is not promoting sex, it's promoting a product- making wild claims that it may come with orgies, but we're all grown up enough to know that's not true. Ask the nearest geek who uses Axe body spray.

If parents are afraid these ads will set a bad example for their youth, then balance it out by teaching them that the depiction is not based on everyday reality (for most people). Rather than trying to censor anything that shows a bit of skin- making kids think that sex is wrong- teach them what is realistic. Must we forget that the best part of sex when you're young is that it's against the rules? Take away some of the taboo and crush a bit of the desire to go against the grain- then it's just left to how well they can handle their hormones.

all valid points, I guess stuff like this just reaffirms me personally as to why I don't bother watching these programs. I've seen worse ads in magazines, it's a non-issue on many fronts. Bad for kids? Only if the parents make it that way - but in the end, if it really bothers people that much all they need to do is go after the $$ - boycott the product and/or go after the advertiser. Otherwise this is doing exactly what the ad was intended to do.

Speaking of boat accidents, the summer after my senior year in college, I was out on a boat with some people on Long Island Sound. One of the guys on the boat fell off as we were rounding a curve, and he went under the boat. His back was slashed open by the bottom of the boat and he nearly had his spine severed. We pulled him up and saw the gaping wounds. I layed towels on his back and practically layed on him myself to put pressure on the wounds. We got him to shore and an ambulance.

He ended up okay, but it was a fucking scary thing.

After that, I've been super-cautious on boats.
