My deodorant pulls a massive faildozer approximately 3-6 hours after application once I've gotten to about the third week of using a deodorant stick. This results in my mass annoyance and I wind up buying new deodorants on a monthly basis. Is this normal? Or am I managing to screw up yet another one of those activities in Life that logically should be nigh-impossible to get wrong?

Last I checked, you swiped your pits with a stick of deodorant once or twice or thrice when you get out of the shower and are dried, but maybe I'm so stupid I did this wrong? I also had the impression from the commercials that they last FOREVER number of hours a day. Sure- - - Unsure - - - -

Fucking things.

I have had problems in the past. Mitchum works pretty well for me and I usually don't have that problem unless it is a hot day.

I hate to admit, but I use the new OTC clinical degree or dove. It is expensive like $8. But it keeps you dry and not stinky at all. I have a strong hate for the smell of BO, so I am extra cautious. Works very good!! Worth the money!!

I try to avoid any that are antipersprant because I heard the stuff in it might be bad for you. Am I just a kook or is there anything to that?

CCC, are you overweight, still in your teens, and/or very active?

Overweight people suffer from diapherisis (excessive sweating) usually because the fat holds in body heat making them sweat (simply put).

teenagers running through puberty are finding that right balance of hormones and this too can cause body odor. It is more the hormones that are the cause than anything else.

Very active people not only sweat a lot but can increase their hormonal levels (hence why when you are overweight your libido, etc changes) and can cause the deodorant/antiperspirant to wear faster.

I go through periods of great activity and sweating up at my property either running the tractor, chainsaw, etc. and my Degree Sport deodorant/antiperspirant works damn good but I am also 35 so my hormones are not as crazy.

Deodorants burns me. Try degree anti perspirant it's the greatest ever. Sometimes if i'm on the move for a few days straight(no sleep or touching down) that thing will stay fresh.

You become immune to stank control.

Your body will eventually acclimate itself to the deodorant, so it's a good idea to change brands every so often.

i think the ammount you perspire is a chemical process your body undergoes. I am over weight and i dont perspire or stink, but my underaverage brother stinks and sweats terribly. and yes anti-perspiraants clog pores with chrome particles.

This can also be related to fluid intake. Clear fluids that are not diuretics can also cause you to sweat more and this is perfectly healthy. You usually will not stink though. I am keeping this simple, but if you do not sweat or sweat excessively and there is not a valid reason for it, then you need to see your doctor.

Using two examples; a paralyzed person will not sweat bellow their spinal cord injury site so they have to find ways to keep cool or else it can be deadly. Some people, normal hormones, normal weight will sweat excessively no matter what they try and in this case there are ways a doctor can help because this can dehydrate a person rather quickly besides being uncomfortable.

The smell thing is entirely different. Hormones, what you ingest, the amount of clear fluids, etc can alter the way you smell. Smelling badly can be mainly a bacterial process, can be purely physiological too, or a combination. To continue to keep things simple, if you have tried strong antiperspirants and/or deodorants without prevail then you need to see your doctor.

In hormones I include diabetes, but this is also something for your doctor and not a message board.

My Dad went through this. He tried all different brands, and found that the only one that worked for him was Teen Spirit--no joke. Of course we mocked him regularly anyway.

Gotta add a vote to the Degree people. Been using it for years now, and I used to try different brands a lot. The "Absolute Protection" deo/ap is great, but maybe you could try the clinical strength if that doesn't work.

Aluminum and/or a magnesium compound has been used for years because like you pointed out it blocks pores. There is a simple out patient procedure for those who sweat excessively but everything else is ruled out that will (again simple terms) shut off/stop a portion of your pores under your arm from sweating.

I've never used an antiperspirant in my life, only a deodorant.

I've recently switched to Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant because it's aluminum free. There have been studies suggesting aluminum may contribute to early onset Alzheimer's disease, so fuck that.

Oddly enough, those that claim to be clinical strength have the same amount of active ingredients as the cheaper ones. So unless it the INACTIVE ingredients that make it work (which I doubt) you are just wasting money that you could be spending on your diet pills.

I have tried a lot of different brands and a lot have failed once I start working up a sweat at work. So I use one that I know will "work" when im out and about and a gentler one days at home. The two that work real well for me are gillette and old spice red zone

Maybe it is like a placebo....it makes me feel good to spend a lot of money on anything. I have a lot to burn. Why would I want diet pills? Are you trying to suggest that I need them?

I have a client (female) who had a huge problem with sweating, to the point where she was always soaked in the summer. She went and had, believe it or not, Botox injected into her underarms. I think she said 10-12 injections in each armpit and it lasted quite a long time. She said the doctor told her the length of time varies from person to person but she said it was the best thing she has ever done.
This could be something to think about if you are having major issues with it. I didn't ask her if it helped with the odor or not though.

I seem to be incapable of producing body odor. And I don't really sweat much even on the hottest days.

How about washing your pits midway through the day and reapplying?

A while back (10 years ago) i found I was allergic to Degree anti-perspirant so I used other ones. Recently I've found that I'm allergic to all of them except for Almay hypo-allergenic anti-perspirant. Sometimes I also use the natural salt stick (works great for odor but doesn't stop the sweating all together). Somedays I use both.

Shit, I'd have to protest the underwear clause, except when I have to wear scrubs. Scrubs are so thin, certain things stick out and will bounce when you walk.

If I don't use an anti-perspirant I smell like a goat in heat. My wife sells Avon and the black suede roll on smells good.It has 14.5% aluminum chlorohydrate,I don't know if that's a lot or not but it works for me.

I usually use the regular Speed Stick 24/7 protection or Speed Stick w/ Irish Spring scent.

Today I tried a Speed Stick gel and I don't think it's as strong as the other ones.

I'm trying to find what's right for me.

I honestly never have an issue with my deodorant.
I use the gel type anti-persperant/deodorant. I usually have the same routine, where I will shower and dry off and then put it on and get dressed and never have trouble. But sometimes I worry that I am effecting my pores, so I will skip a day on the weekend so that my body does not think its normal and I flush out my sweat glands, and I make sure it is not a hot day or plan any rigorous activity that might cause a stink or whatever. Thankfully I never had a stink issue over there anyway.
