So right now i'm down at FLETC (http://www.fletc.gov), i've been here a week and i have another week to go. the thing with this place is, there's no TV. They have a few tv rooms, but the ratio is something like 1 tv per 500 students, so basicly to keep the peace, they're always on a news channel (usually fox news ofcourse).

This is ofcourse done on purpose, they want us to focus and study. My current course of study is terrorism, past and future trends. It's a facinating course, i'm really enjoying it. Right now I have two books to read. the first is "no country for old men" that i brought and the Qur'an that they're having me read.

Internet's not much of an option. This is the first time that i have logged onto the internet in a week; i have 35 minutes left.

The only thing keeping me sane is Ron and Fez. I've been here before so i came prepared. I recorded about 3 weeks worth of shows and have been listening to them at night. Oddly enough i can't get a good signal for live shows. must be the lead paint.

I certainly know how you feel furie, almost like you are completely cut off from the world. There were at least a dozen or so times I went for more than 2 weeks with no knowledge of what was happening around us. It is tough, interesting, and makes you want to catch up when you are done in order to feel connected.

Sounds like an intriguing course.

That is a pretty cool place. When I was younger I worked for an archetectural sign company and we made all of the signage for that facility.

I've recently thought of buying a Quoran.I figured I might as well read their propaganda as well.

Dude!

You can watch plenty of live programming online.

In fact, there are some sketchy sites devoted to streaming the major networks and also cable networks.

Do they make you go to bed with no dessert too?

I've been going years without following any shows on TV at all.

You'll be fine, maybe it will break your dependence on this ever increasingly disappointing box of dogshit.

I would object more to having to read the Qur'an more than anything

just an update. I am a friggin idiot.
Today was a firearms exercise. when were were done, the instructor decided to be nice and let us "play" with the .50 sniper rifle. I've never shot one before and this would probably be my only chance. So, I got down on the ground, took off the safty, put my eye up to the scope, and fired.
the problem there is that i put my eye to the scope. I seriously underestimated the kick on that thing. So smacked myself in the eye, well right above the eye, pretty hard with the scope. now i have a nice semi-circle gouge above my right eye.

oh and boosterp, my previous post wasn't aimed at you

wow, great question. as soon as you asked, nothing came to mind. I'm not seriously following any shows right now. The last show i followed was BSG. The closest right now would be true blood.
I guess i just like to flip around and watch crappy tv movies and the history channel. it's comforting somehow.

Budday, eye relief is there for a reason but I can not fault you. I did the same thing with a 454 rifle and did not have the eye relief set to my standard. I have shot several sniper rifles but none bigger than a 7.62x39 (.308).

Edit: you did not put that thing resting on the top of your shoulder did you? If you did you'll be sore tomorrow. In the prone with a bipod you always prop the front of your body up a tad to catch the meat of the shoulder.

no, not on my shoulder. my form was fine. i guess i just wasn't expecting that kind of kick. looking back at it, i really should have though.

Some of those 50s have good recoil relief. I have seen (in person) several shot from the bench with little recoil but they are very high end. I can't shoot that big anymore because I fucked up my shoulder and it'd kill me, also yo need a little weight behind you to shoot like you did.
