One of my I cant believe I used to eat that, was sardines. When I was a young lad of 6 or 7,My father would bring those canned lil fish and eat them. Now I ll try anything, and did. I used to eat them with him. I cant imagine opening a can of sardines now. Those stinky lil brown fishes. Man, my skin curddles when I think on how crunchy their eyes were.

I can't believe the shit my parents used to eat-- headcheese (scraps if coldcuts set in a jelly-like substance), bloodwurst (headcheese with made with blood), pickled pigs feet! I used to say, "You're no longer in the motherland, for chrissake!"

I hear that alice. Those damn pig knuckles were an awful sight to see.
How about olive loaf. Now that was downright nasty. I can remember those olive loaf sandwiches and washing them down with mello yellow. Which I simply cant drink anymore.

I forgot about the olive loaf! Blech! And my dad just *loved* cream chipped beef on toast. And I remember eating sardines on saltines as a kid, except my dad would cut the heads off.

cream chipped beef on toastAhhh, SOS! I remember that... Wasn't much of a fan of it, but didn't mind it. I have some older friends who "love a good SOS" and want to find a place near them that makes it with chipped beef instead of ground beef.
I still like olive loaf! But I'll agree that I have to leave the room if someone is eating headcheese or pigs knuckles. I never had sardines- I'm not a big seafood fan, though I will have the occasional shrimp basket, crab cake or fillet.
What I can't believe that I used to eat was what my father referred to as "sprouts" which looked like boiled okra. It had this bland, almost bitter taste, and my father made it occasionally. My sisters STILL love that gunk *cough*freaks*cough*

Fish still makes me feel uneasy. Though I can eat tuna and salmon, flounder, to see a fish that is just sittn there on ice or on my plate, gives me the gag reflex. Though I have no problem with crabs and lobsters and clams.
One thing that skeeves me a bit, my sister used to eat raw hotdogs. Gross, grody! nasty! I still remember the arguemenst that would ensue. My mother would say, well they are precooked. I would counter, but you dont see them eating raw hotdogs on the commercials now do you!. I never won, but atleast my sister outgrew the habit
