This is a brilliant question because it is still one of the mysteries of medicine that has not yet been solved.

Men and women generally have analogous organs...the labia become the scrotum in men, for example, so one would presume that there are tissues analogous to the seminal vesicles and prostate (where the bulk of semen comes from) in women.

The crazy thing is that a few decent studies have been done on female ejaculate and a few of them found nothing but urine, but a few found prostatic specific antigen (PSA) in the fluid (but not in the urine), suggesting that prostate-like tissues exist in some women that can produce ejaculate.

You'd basically have to identify some squirters, give them a dye that turns urine orange (pyridium) or blue (Urised) and masturbate them until they squirt. Collect the ejaculate and see if it's blue or orange. If so, it at least has some urine in it. Then test them for Prostatic Specific Antigen and Prostatic Alkaline Phosphatase. If it's present, then the ejaculate at least has some fluid that is NOT urine in it. Then you'd have to MRI or dissect these ladies to see what is different about their anatomy than a "normal" woman. You can start to see why this study has never been done...it'd either be very expensive for no real medical benefit, or it'd be unethical (the whole dissecting of a live person thing).

It's one of those things that won't be solved until there is a medical reason to do so (e.g., "squirting decreases the risk of heart attack" or something similar).

again, since it's probably a normal variant, it's hard to dissect some poor girl to find her squirt organs just because we're curious about it. But I know what you mean, after all this time we figure we know pretty much everything there is to know about gross anatomy, and then this question keeps coming up (no pun intended).

I think some of it has to do with the fact that the vast majority of anatomists from the last 1000 years were men, and until the 1960s, no one seemed to care much about female orgasms.

Since men and women have analogues of each other's organs, it makes sense that the squirters simply have a larger reservoir in the female version of the seminal vesicles. The reservoir contracts during orgasm, sending out fluid through the urethra similar to male ejaculation. It simply makes sense to me to think about it that way, but I can't prove it with current anatomical knowledge.

By the way, if you ever thought Dr Harry Fisch was a dope, you were right. He analysed Lexi Love's emissions by doing a SINGLE test (urine creatinine). Since this was positive, he concluded that all "female ejaculation" is urinary incontinence. This is simply asinine. INTRODUCTION:
Women may expel various kinds of fluids during sexual arousal and at orgasm. Their origins, quantity, compositions, and expulsion mechanisms depend on anatomical and pathophysiological dispositions and the degree of sexual arousal. These are natural sexual responses but may also represent symptoms of urinary incontinence.
AIM:
The study aims to clarify the etiology of fluid leakage at orgasm, distinguish between associated physiological sexual responses, and differentiate these phenomena from symptoms of illness.
METHODS:
A systematic literature review was performed. EMBASE (OvidSP) and Web of Science databases were searched for the articles on various phenomena of fluid expulsions in women during sexual arousal and at orgasm.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:
Articles included focused on female ejaculation and its variations, coital incontinence (CI), and vaginal lubrication.
RESULTS:
Female ejaculation orgasm manifests as either a female ejaculation (FE) of a smaller quantity of whitish secretions from the female prostate or a squirting of a larger amount of diluted and changed urine. Both phenomena may occur simultaneously. The prevalence of FE is 10-54%. CI is divided into penetration and orgasmic forms. The prevalence of CI is 0.2-66%. Penetration incontinence occurs more frequently and is usually caused by stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Urodynamic diagnoses of detrusor overactivity (DOA) and SUI are observed in orgasmic incontinence.
CONCLUSIONS:
