To all the people of the world who get upset when someone posts, espouses, or otherwise proliferates an opinion about an item that does not necessarily blend with your own on matters of simple taste...
WHY THE FUCK DO YOU CARE WHAT SOMEONE ELSE THINKS?
I understand the fury of debate that occurs in political discussions, even if I don't agree when one side jumps on the other in a gangland style massacre of words and insults.
But if someone says something that doesn't particularly jive with you... such as, oh, the perennial negative thread about something or someone on the Ron and Fez show... does that really alter the way you see the show so much that you need to despair, rage online in retaliation, and fervently wish either secretively or overtly that somebody will someday shut up the one who doesn't like what you like?
Case in point on this board, Gaz's recent post in one of the Fez threads about how FBA was a paradise of positivity regarding all things R&F... as if that's a good fucking thing, to have only one side/view of things, and then he says "well, it's inevitable evil that others will not like the show and say so... I wish it weren't so but it is so..." Why does our opinion matter to you one way or the other? Yes I'm paraphrasing with liberties GAZ, I don't care enough to dredge up a carbon copy of your internet words.
Taking it beyond the Ron and Fez show debate, how about people who like a certain type of music being hated by people who don't like that type of music? Personal taste amongst individuals should not be seen as a personal threat to one another's enjoyment of something. Perhaps I am just being an idealist?
Probably, people who get fussy actually are having internal debates within themselves and are having doubts about the things they like to begin with.
The impulse to shut somebody up is usually indicative of a mind that is trying desperately to convince itself that its opinion is supreme above all others... and that said opinion is cracking under the pressure much like a hairline fracture in a tooth's enamel, thus the sensitivity to annoying things like opinions, which gets the ol' tooth hurting again.
I love to disagree with people, personally. I also enjoy agreeing. But I really don't care enough about what someone else thinks to drag myself to this pinnacle of self-righteousness where I feel that the world would be a better place if everyone liked what I liked too. It seems a bit of a retarded thing to get worked up over. I'm not a complete retard, but I can't speak for anyone other than me. Who knows?
Given the length and ranting nature of this post, I'll presume that this entire post of mine is to be taken rhetorically.
