With all the reports of a North Korean missile launch toward Hawaii, how nervous would that make you if you lived there? Enough to make you head to the mainland for the 4th of July weekend? My thought is it's probably like Y2K. People thinking nothing will happen, but that little nagging doubt lingering in your head.

I'd hop in a boat and go to North Korea to hide out until it cools down

North Korea will quit their yapping when we...

A) give them more food.

B) destroy their nuclear facilities with a strategic bombing run.

C) steal their secret kim-chi recipe.

D) pee in my butt.

E) None of the above

Thanks Fez.

I try not to think about it as my Father is visiting my Brother who lives there.

Your the best FezFez.

And to answer your question, I wouldn't worry in the slightest. If I had a trip to Hawaii planned already, I'd still go without hesitation.

I have enough real things to worry about, even if I lived in Hawaii

They probably feel how South Korea and Japan have been feeling for the last decade. My guess would be its a little like riding a subway after 9/11.

Not very. I'm pretty confident in our Navy ships in Yokosuka, Japan and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii to be able to track and shoot down any missile that came too close to our territory.

What does this mean?

Was it supposed to say "like flying in a plane" ??

I wouldn't get too freaked out about it. As crazy as Kim Jong is, I don't think he wants to start anything with the U.S.

I believe their intentions are very real, yet they may not be savvy enough to pull it off.

Hawaii and Korea were a shitty combo for Kate Gosselin, and they are a shitty combo for world history.

No, but I guess that's similar. I'm not sure where you're from, but in NYC (and possibility other cities with mass transit) there were soldiers with M16's all over the subway. It was hard to forget it was a prime target of terrorist attacks.

I want to know what Asian counties have against Hawaii.

Its a nice place...but we get it...you like to bomb it.

Be original North Korea.

Not at all.

I grew up in the DC metro area in the 1980s, when we had convinced ourselves that it was only a matter of time before The Big One would take out Washington. I had dreams of driving down 95 South, with a mushroom cloud behind me, and knowing it was too late. Songs like Sting's "Russians," television movies like "The Day After" just made it seem like we were going to go out that way, and as a kid in this area, there was not a whole lot I could do.

When 9/11 happened, I was working downtown blocks from the White House - I drove past the Pentagon on fire on my way home, which is less than a mile from the Pentagon, across the street from a military base. Friends outside of DC couldn't understand my feelings that I was at peace with living where I was, and the best I could explain was that growing up I had "dealt" with that inevitable and the realities of living in a place with a bulls-eye.

It amazed me in the year or so after 9/11, how family in Kansas or friends in Ohio felt they too were targets - how they felt less safe in Wichita or Dayton than I did where I live. This fear, imo, is why it was so easy to get people behind the war - everyone felt that big Saddam missle pointing at them and their children. The truth was, we were attached, and it was the worst that had ever happened on our soil and was an immense and scary tragedy, but 20,000 people survived the attack, and 100s of millions of Americans weren't even at threat.

If something happens, it's going to happen, and we've seen that scary random stuff can happen anywhere, at anytime, to any body - if a shooting at an Amish School didn't prove that, I'm not sure what could - but it shouldn't prevent us from living this wonderful life we are given.

You wouldn't know that from Hannity, which looked at for a little while last night. He was screaming that this is the most dangerous thing ever and nothing is being done.

Ridiculous.

North Korea's posturing is harmless.

If a missle from North Korea hit the US, there would be no North Korea within 8 hours. I really don't think they could be that stupid

What was the last country to attack on American soil?
No one is stupid enough to do that unprovoked.
Even Japan felt provoked when it bombed Pearl Harbor.

But China could

Please. Do you think Chinese soldiers want to invade the US. They would land, see our internet porn and apply for citizenship.
No country could ever invade us. All those "huge" militarys are made up of reluctant soldiers hoping to feed their family.
If we invaded China, sure there numbers might be a problem. But, they would never conquer us. Look at Iraq's army in the first Gulf War. It was said to be the second or third largest in the world. Sure, planes that don't fly, broken down tanks, and soldiers who surrender before a shoot is fired.

After we invaded and took over he would just tell the people that he decided to change the flag and has hired contractors for soldiers.

NKorea vows nuke attack if provoked by US

SEOUL, South Korea — Punching their fists into the air and shouting "Let's crush them!" some 100,000 North Koreans packed Pyongyang's main square Thursday for an anti-U.S. rally as the communist regime promised a "fire shower of nuclear retaliation" for any American-led attack.

Several demonstrators held up a placard depicting a pair of hands smashing a missile with "U.S." written on it, according to footage taken by APTN in Pyongyang on the anniversary of the day North Korean troops charged southward, sparking the three-year Korean War in 1950.

North Korean troops will respond to any sanctions or U.S. provocations with "an annihilating blow," one senior official vowed — a pointed threat as an American destroyer shadowed a North Korean freighter sailing off China's coast, possibly with banned goods on board.

They're easily replaceable.
