I think this is the first case of someone famous who is gay getting divorced, even though they werent really married. Will this help or hurt the gay marriage arguement?

9 years is much longer than my marriage lasted... I don't think this should hurt the gay marriage argument

They cant get divorced.... Gay Divorce is illegal in all 50 states

well it technically isnt her wife since they couldn't legally get married. I was wondering that if her wife wins in court, and gets some cash does it help the pro gay marriage stance or does it hurt it as a civil union is tried just like a man/woman divorce. Which would make gay marriage pretty much meaningless.
