So for the past few months I have been having some pretty nasty chest and stomach pains, and a ongoing cough. I had a few blood tests done, as well as a thyroid ultrasound and chest xray. My doctor tells me I have Acid Reflux, and possibly a hiatal hernia. It makes sense to me, because well, I did alittle research and the two match up. The thing that Im concerned about is that these pains hardly ever go away, and are MUCH worse for about 2 hours after eating, and sometimes Im afraid to swallow when drinking anything because the pain feels like its in my lungs, and I fear that what im drinking is going into my lungs. My doctor simply told me that I will have to deal with it, and gave me nothing to help me manage this. So my question is, what the hell can I do about this to stop the constant burning, and help me get a win on this shit. Its seriously fucked with my head, Im only 19 and am really scared that I will feel this pain everyday for the rest of my life, or that I will fuck my lungs up.
Thats real long, but hopefully you can help me out man, I feel im too young for this. It has caused me to stop smoking pot, cause when I feel the pain and Im high I freak the heck out, had a panic attack last time...

Yeah, the last thing you need right now is cannabis-induced paranoia.
First I'd want to know what meds you ARE taking for this. I'm assuming you're taking some sort of acid reducer; that should make the pain go away pretty quickly. If it doesn't, you need to have an endoscopy. This is a really easy procedure (you're asleep during the whole thing) that allows the stomach doc to look down your gullet and into your stomach. There's no better way to diagnose stuff in the GI tract than to take a looksee.
Write back and PM me when you do so I'll know to look back into this thread. I have the worst reflux in the world, and if I can be symptom free, I know you can too.
your pal,
steve
