SyFy To Remake Alien Nation?

Well, the success of Battlestar Galactica has led to yet another sci-fi franchise reboot, this time of the show Alien Nation. (http://www.newsarama.com/tv/070901-AlienNation.html)

I really wasn't a huge fan of the show or movie back when they aired. I'd watch a little but it was too formulaic.

Isn't it so odd? If you told me there'd be a movie about Aliens assimilating to human society, and having to struggle with Civil Rights issues I'd think it would be insanely awesome. However, for some reason I've always HATED Alien Nation.

Maybe it was the terrible acting? Or drab feel of the cinematography?

Nah, I go back to the writing. It was very formulaic, and really wasn't all that different from other '70's and '80's cop shows. It was a cop show with a sci fi twist, as opposed to a sci fi show with a cop show slant.

Woooo Hooo! I loved Alien Nation. Maybe it's because I loved cop shows growing up. SyFy is really shaping up I think. We are gonna get Caprica (which hopefully will answer some of my questions regarding what we did to the cylons that caused them to revolt). Next week Warehouse 13 starts. There is going to be another Stargate. I can't wait!

I'm claiming that they'll make one of the main two characters a hot chick, therefore giving it a romantic edge.

Eureka is great, really fun show. I didn't know the Cappica pilot was already out. I'm almost done watching the last season of BSG (I was late to the party). I'll have to seek it out as soon as I'm done.

I liked the origional alien nation show..but it got all mysticism-y for me.
They totally lost me when they started going nuts with that savior/cross species sex shit.
