I ventured out to IHOP after my race last week for a nice treat. And it reminded me how great breakfast truly is. And the best part of a big breakfast is pancakes.

I personally adore blueberry pancakes. I don't need any extra butter, take that syrup and be gone with you. Just some pancakes with the blueberries in the batter (that is key), some fresh blueberries on top and drizzled in blueberry sauce.

And if I feel faggy, a dash of whipped cream.

Is it buckwheat pancakes? Yeah, buckwheat pancakes.

I used to like them straight up--just the buttermilk pancake and syrup. Now, I like them with fruit--blueberry's the best, but I also like buttermilk pancakes with strawberries. They all taste best at about 2:30 in the morning after the clubs close, though.

Buttermilk pancakes with Cracker Barrel's syrup.

I don't like fruity syrups, just regular maple syrup is fine by me.

Butter and maple syrup. And of course, eat the center last.

Corn cakes (corn bread recipe thinned out with extra milk and egg) with molasses. Sticky discs of heaven.

Not a huge fan of pancakes, but I understand the idea behind them. The cornbread version might be something to look at though.

Communist.

I like the pancakes my dad made on Saturdays, but really you are being offered soggy bread. I do like a waffle on the occasion though.

I am a flavor purist for the most part. I hate too many distractions. I don't eat cheeseburgers much so I can enjoy the beef flavor. I enjoy the low salt potato chips because you can taste the potato over the salt.

As for my pancakes, I just butter them and slightly syrup them.

At the risk of being shipped off to Cuba, I've never been a pancake fan either but if you put chocolate chips in them they taste like a cookie.

I love pancakes, the blueberry ones are outstanding and so are chocolate chip. IHOP also makes this stuffed french toast that will make you jizz in your pants.

Try something different: mix chocolate and peanut butter chips into the batter. Top with a good brand maple syrup and some chocolate sauce.

Blueberry rocks though.

don't eat them often but if I do I like fruits on mine. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries... but I hate when they are not fresh fruits.

I prefer fresh fruit on top of buttermilk pancakes, strawberries or blueberries. My kid loves to put strawberry jam on top of hers instead of syrup.

Bacon is on side, not minced into a pancake like a common chocolate chip

If you have the patients to wait on line for 2-3 hours, head on over to the Clinton Street Bakery on the lower east side. The maple butter pancakes are delightful!

I waited on line once. It was the middle of the winter so I figured no one would be crazy enough to wait on line in the freezing cold. Boy was I wrong, people love their pancakes!

I'm dying to make these (http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/2009/05/brown-sugar-bacon-waffles/). So smart, bacon IN the waffles:
