No kidding.
My friend's girlfriend was born without a sense of smell. I didn't believe her until my friend did a few "tests" to prove it to me. She was for real.
Anyway, for obvious reasons, it was the best relationship he ever had.

This is weird....a few years back while she was living in Arizona my step-mother had a fainting episode and fell. When she woke up she had lost her sense of smell. Years later it just came back unexpectedly. To this day she has no idea how that happened.

Wow...that'd suck to lack a sense of smell. I'd imagine you wouldn't be able to taste things well, and you wouldn't get fart jokes...what a sad sad existence.
But, then, if I had to lack a sense, I think I'd have to forego my sense of smell. Sure, I'd be more likely to aquire an STD (smell is the most reliable "Dirty Beaver" signal), but considering how important it is to see, hear, taste, and touch!

I get it. I get jokes.

My dad had throat cancer and had a laryngectomy. Not only did he lose his voice box but he also lost his sense of smell. Came in handy when I was a kid and I came home with beer breath!
