They seem to be basing much of their Mafia glorification on the movie "Goodfellas", which I think made it clear all the talk of "honor" and "codes" in the Mob is bullshit, and it's basically just a loose collection of scumbags who will rip each other off with no more hesitation than they fuck over anyone else.

I mean, that movie destroyed the myth and grandeur "The Godfather" gave (which was itself pretty skeptical and cast a fairly jaundiced eye on the mob as well.)
