Do you "keep right" in all aspects of your life?

We drive on the right side of the road. Shouldn't it be common sense that we should "keep right" in life to maintain some semblance of order in our otherwise fucked up existence?

Examples: I keep right when walking down a sidewalk or crowded boardwalk, keep right going down a hallway, stay to the right while waiting to get on an elevator so people can get off on the left, and stay right going down a supermarket aisle. That's the only way you avoid potential "head-on" collisions.

Why do I seem to run into tons of clueless assholes who can't seem to follow this basic common courtesy? We wind up doing that little dance thing to get around each other and if I flash them a pissed off look they throw one back at me as if to say "You're just as much to blame." No I'm not, because I'm keeping RIGHT!

Absolutely. In some cities in Europe they actually have signs in the escalators "Stay right please" - not that those would be of any use here.

you are absolutely right. I am so dumbfounded when im walking in a supermarket and so many people are in my way because they can't follow logical traffic rules in a walking situation. it makes sense more than anything else in the world to me

I stay right, until someone else on the right is walking too slowly for me to stay there. This applies to driving as well.

When in Japan it was quite hard to adjust to keeping left with everything but after two weeks I was converted. Once back at the airport in Newark I had to be reminded to stand on right side of the escalator, it took a little while to get switched back.
