Dear Dr Steve,

As I have noticed, there seems to be alot of sex questions here. I have one that I have been quite embarrased by, but need an answer to.

I am not that attractive of a woman, but I have needs to. My lifestyle does not lean towards loving sex, but more of quick blowjobs here and there. Sometimes I make the man wear a rubber (if I do not know him), but otherwise, it is without.
My question to you is: Are there really any consequences to swallowing cum? Is it bad for the digestive system? Can I catch a disease from it, or will the acids in my stomach erradicate them?

Please let me know.

How do quick blow jobs meet your needs?

Is it just validation or do they reciprocate?

None of my business, really so feel free to ignore.

Best,

Denise: I imagine, despite your protestations to the reverse, that you are a very popular lady indeed. Are you satisfied with all this fellatio? ...you didn't say whether these cads are reciprocating (well, they're only cads if they don't).

With regard to the question, semen is a safe and nutritious substance most of the time. However, you can get Herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea of the throat through oral sex. HIV is much harder to contract. There are other viruses that are transmissible through oral sex as well...here's a pretty good article on the subject: http://www.brown.edu/Student_Services/Health_Services/Health_Education/sexual_health/sti/oralsex.htm

Note that you can transmit these things yourself if you carry them. Oral sex with someone who has a herpes cold sore will generally result in a genital herpes infection, etc.

Hope this helps, and stay healthy! If you're not monogamous (or if your partners aren't), insist on regular checks for STDs and if they won't or if you aren't sure, a condom is always a good thing (though not perfect).

hope this helps

your pal,

steve
